JUMO digiLine Ci ST10 Inductive Conductivity Electronics, 202760

Description

Digital electronics that turn an inductive cell into a bus or IO-Link sensor

The JUMO digiLine Ci (type 202760) is the intelligent electronics that connect an inductive conductivity sensor, with a separate cell on a sensor line, to a measuring or automation system. The same electronics are offered with four interface types: RS485 for the JUMO digiLine protocol and Modbus RTU, IO-Link, two 4 to 20 mA analog outputs, or two PhotoMOS binary outputs. Versions with RS485 give Plug and Play operation on a JUMO AQUIS touch S or P and Modbus operation on a mTRON T or variTRON. The housing can be mounted on a wall, pipe, mast or DIN rail near the cell, and two M12 plug connectors make the electrical connection with pre-assembled cables. Calibration data are stored in the electronics, so a calibrated cell can be installed without recalibration.

Functions that reduce commissioning and downtime

The electronics store a calibration logbook of the last 10 calibrations with date, time and values, and a calibration timer that reminds the operator when the next calibration is due. Two limit value monitors with four switching functions each can also apply USP 645 or European Pharmacopoeia alarm limits for purified water. Counters record CIP and SIP cycles, and a sensor stress value warns when thermal load becomes critical. A linearisation table of up to 30 value pairs per range converts conductivity into a concentration on the local display. Binary versions add an alarm buzzer that can be linked to three internal signals.

Selection and installation notes

Choose the interface first: digiLine RS485 when a JUMO AQUIS touch S or P is the master, Modbus when a mTRON T or variTRON is the controller, IO-Link for a PLC with an IO-Link master, and analog or binary outputs for a conventional loop. The voltage supply must be SELV or PELV and current-limited to 2 A. Fasten the housing with the holder, connect the cell by the 8-pole M12 sensor cable and the interface by the second M12 cable, and use the USB port with JUMO DSM software for laboratory calibration. The IP69K rating suits washdown areas such as dairies, bottling halls and CIP skids.

Accessories listed in the datasheet include M12 digiLine master connecting cables of 1.5, 5 and 10 m (part numbers 00638333, 00638337 and 00638341), M12 connecting cables up to 15 m, a Y-splitter 00638327, the digiLine hub 00646871 with power supply 00661597, an M12 terminating connector, the JUMO DSM software 00655787 and a pipe-mounted kit 00515128 for stainless steel cases. The datasheet notes that pipe mounting with cable ties is not permitted within the UL scope, where wall mounting on a plate must be used.

See the liquid analytical systems category for related analysis controllers and transmitters.

Using the digiLine Ci in Oman and the GCC

Inductive conductivity measurement is used in the region where conductivity is high or the liquid is dirty, such as cooling tower blowdown, wastewater, brine and concentrate lines in desalination plants, and chemical concentration in CIP systems. Because the inductive cell has no electrodes in contact with the liquid, it resists fouling and corrosion better than conductive cells in these duties. The digital electronics allow the sensor to be connected directly to a PLC, an IO-Link master or a JUMO controller, which simplifies wiring on skids.

Choose the interface that matches the control system and check the ambient temperature at the electronics, especially for outdoor skids or hot plant rooms. Keep the cell away from pipe walls as recommended in the manual to avoid wall effects, and check calibration at regular intervals.

For retrofits, tell us which sensor or transmitter is being replaced so the mounting and the signal can be matched.

About brand

JUMO is the German maker of temperature sensors, process controllers, pressure transmitters and liquid analysis instruments. Moritz Kurt Juchheim founded it in Fulda in 1948 as M. K. Juchheim KG, making glass thermometers with six employees. The name JUMO comes from the founder's name. It is still a family company headquartered in Fulda, and the parent company has been called JUMO GmbH & Co. KG since 2003.

Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list JUMO RTD and thermocouple probes, thermowells, transmitters, controllers, recorders and water analysis instruments, and supply them to process plants, OEMs, HVAC contractors and water utilities in Oman and the GCC by type number.

Choosing a temperature sensor starts with the range and accuracy. A Pt100 RTD is accurate and stable from about -200 to 600 °C and is the usual choice in process plants. A thermocouple (type K or J, for example) covers much higher temperatures and responds faster but is less accurate. The wiring also matters: a 3-wire or 4-wire Pt100 connection cancels the resistance of the cable, while a 2-wire connection adds an error that grows with cable length. That is why a head-mounted transmitter is often fitted close to the sensor.

Where JUMO products are used

In Oman and the GCC, JUMO sensors and controllers are used in oil and gas and chemical plants, food and beverage production, plastics and metal heat treatment, HVAC and district cooling, water and wastewater treatment, swimming pools and marine applications.
