JUMO DELOS T 902940 Temperature Switch with Display and Analog Output

Description

A Pt1000 temperature switch with display, PNP outputs and analog signal

The JUMO DELOS T (type 902940) is a highly precise electronic temperature switch made of a protection tube with built-in sensor, a process connection and an attached housing with an LCD display. Depending on the version it works from -50 to +150 degC, -50 to +260 degC or -50 to +500 degC. Output variants are one PNP switching output, two PNP switching outputs, or one PNP switching output plus an analog output of 4 to 20 mA, 0 to 20 mA or 0 to 10 V (or reversed), linearized with temperature. JUMO lists food and pharmaceutical, CIP/SIP plants, mechanical and plant engineering, and air conditioning and refrigeration as applications.

The measuring element is a Pt1000 in four-wire circuit, class A as standard or class AA. A positively lit amber LCD with two groups of four characters and status indication for K1 and K2 shows the value in degC or degF, and the display housing can be swivelled by +/-160 degrees after installation and mirrored by 180 degrees in software. Operation is by a rotary encoder under the sealing screw or by the setup program.

Selecting the DELOS T version, output and fitting

The order code uses ten blocks: basic type – version – operating temperature – measuring insert – tolerance class – output – tube diameter – insertion length – process connection / extra code. Version 8 is the standard with default settings and 9 is a customer-specific configuration written in plain text. Measuring insert 1013 is the Pt1000 in four-wire circuit. Tolerance class 2 is class A (standard) and 3 is AA; class 0 applies to the /50 type, which uses an external probe.

Output code Description
470 1 x PNP switching output
471 2 x PNP switching outputs
475 1 x PNP and 1 x analog 4 to 20 mA, configurable
476 1 x PNP and 1 x analog 0 to 20 mA, configurable
477 1 x PNP and 1 x analog 0 to 10 V, configurable

Process connections range from threaded G 1/4, G 3/8, G 1/2 and metric M12 to M20 fittings to hygienic DIN 11851 dairy fittings (DN 10, 25, 32), DIN 32676 clamps (DN 10/20 to DN 50 and 2.5 inch), ball weld sockets, VARIVENT DN 15/10 to DN 50/40, weld sleeves and JUMO PEKA. Extra code 310 steps the 6 mm tube down to 3.8 mm and 810 adds a welding socket for connection 380.

Setting, wiring and where a local switch with display helps

Wire the supply and outputs through the M12 plug according to the installation instructions; the datasheet states that the connection diagram gives only preliminary information. Switching point, release point, window or hysteresis function, switching delay and analog scaling are set with the rotary encoder or the setup program, and the output behaviour outside the scaling range is defined: 4 to 20 mA falls linearly to 3.8 mA and rises to 20.5 mA, and 0 to 10 V rises to 10.2 V. An overcurrent on a switching output shows Err3 (K1) or Err4 (K2) on the display.

With ambient temperatures of -50 degC the function is restricted, which is irrelevant in the Gulf, but the opposite concern applies: keep the display case within +75 degC, and use the extension-tube types on hot lines so the electronics stay inside the rating. Typical jobs include pasteurizer and CIP return monitoring, chiller and cooling-water limits, boiler and heat-exchanger protection, and local temperature indication with a PLC signal on process skids.

About brand

Temperature measurement is the origin of JUMO, founded in 1948 in Fulda, Germany, as a maker of glass thermometers. Today the catalog covers sensors and transmitters for temperature, pressure, level and liquid analysis, plus controllers and recorders. Seven Star LLC lists JUMO RTD probes, pressure and differential pressure transmitters, pH, conductivity, turbidity and dissolved oxygen instruments, and sources them for plants in Oman.

JUMO product families listed

JUMO uses family names that recur across the catalog:

  • dTRANS: transmitters, including dTRANS T01 and T100 for temperature, dTRANS p02 DELTA for differential pressure, and dTRANS pH 02 and CR 02 for liquid analysis
  • Wtrans: wireless probes and transmitters, such as Wtrans T for RTD temperature and Wtrans p for pressure
  • digiLine and ecoLine: digital and optical analysis sensors, for example the digiLine O-DO S10 dissolved oxygen sensor and the ecoLine NTU turbidity sensor
  • NESOS: float-based level transmitters and switches
  • RTD temperature probes: screw-in types such as 902030 and mineral-insulated designs

Where JUMO sensors are used

JUMO sensors and transmitters are typical of food and beverage lines, water and wastewater treatment, pharmaceutical utilities, heating and cooling systems, and packaged machinery supplied to the GCC by European builders. Many requests are for a like-for-like replacement of a probe fitted by the machine maker, where length, thread and connector have to match exactly.

Ordering JUMO parts: what we need

JUMO identifies each product group by a six-digit type number, such as 902030, followed by an order code that fixes the options. The label of the delivered item normally carries a part number as well. Send whichever you have, ideally both, or a photo of the label. For JUMO temperature probes add insertion length, diameter, process connection, sensor type and wiring. For JUMO pressure sensors state range, output, process connection and electrical connector. For analysis sensors name the transmitter they connect to and the cable length.
