Safety gloves protect hands from cuts, abrasion, chemicals, heat, impact and vibration, which together cause a large share of workplace injuries. Seven Star LLC, an independent supplier in Muscat, supplies hand protection from Tegera, Mapa Professional and Uvex to industrial, oil and gas, construction and maintenance teams in Oman and the GCC.

Types of glove in this category

Cut-resistant gloves from Tegera, Mapa and Uvex use high-performance yarns with nitrile or polyurethane coatings for sheet metal handling, glass and maintenance work. Chemical-resistant gloves in nitrile, neoprene and butyl from Mapa Professional protect against oils, solvents, acids and alkalis, and the right material depends on the chemical and exposure time. Impact gloves with back-of-hand protection suit oil and gas drilling and heavy handling. General handling and assembly gloves give grip and dexterity, while leather welding and heat-resistant gloves protect against sparks and hot surfaces.

How to select safety gloves

Start from the task and its hazards. Read the EN 388 code for mechanical risks: abrasion, cut, tear and puncture, plus the ISO cut level (A to F) and impact (P). For chemicals, check EN ISO 374 and the permeation data for the specific substance. Then consider grip in dry, wet or oily conditions, dexterity, touchscreen use, comfort in heat, and size. Offer several sizes; ill-fitting gloves are removed or cause accidents.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the EN 388 marking mean?
It rates resistance to abrasion, blade cut, tear and puncture, followed by the ISO cut level A to F and an optional P for impact protection. Higher numbers and letters mean more resistance.
Which cut level do I need?
Light handling needs level A or B; sheet metal and glass handling usually needs level C to E; very sharp edges may need F. A risk assessment should set the level.
Are nitrile gloves good for all chemicals?
No. Nitrile resists oils and many solvents, but some chemicals pass through it quickly. Check permeation data for the specific chemical and choose nitrile, neoprene, butyl or another material accordingly.
How can I improve grip on oily parts?
Choose gloves with a foam or micro-porous nitrile coating designed for oily grip. Smooth coatings slip on oily surfaces.
What should I send for a quotation?
The product reference with sizes and quantities, or the task, hazards and chemicals involved.
