Valve Actuators
Valve actuators convert an electric, pneumatic or hydraulic power source into the thrust or torque that moves a valve stem or shaft. Seven Star LLC supplies actuators and actuator spare parts to plants in Oman, with more than 200 listed items from AUMA, Masoneilan, ABB, Biffi and Rotork, among others. The category covers spring-diaphragm actuators for globe control valves, electric multi-turn, part-turn and linear actuators, and pneumatic and hydraulic fail-safe units for shutdown valves, together with AUMA gearboxes and linear thrust units.

Electric, pneumatic and hydraulic actuator types in this category
Pneumatic spring-diaphragm actuators, such as the Masoneilan Type 37/38 and 87/88 and the Samson Type 3271, are the usual drive for sliding-stem control valves. Air acts on a diaphragm against a spring, so the valve moves to a defined position when the air supply is lost. AUMA electric actuators cover multi-turn duty (SAEx and SAREx) and part-turn duty (SQR), with separate versions for open-close and modulating work. ABB Contrac and the Rotork CVA are electric actuators built for continuous modulating control. Biffi pneumatic and hydraulic actuators, including fail-safe versions, are typically used on pipeline and shutdown valves. Fisher, Bettis, Limitorque, Flowserve, Festo and pFlow models are also listed.
How to select an actuator for a valve
Start from the valve: linear or rotary motion, the thrust or torque it needs at the worst-case differential pressure, and the stroke or angle of travel. Then define the duty. On-off, inching and modulating duties place very different loads on an electric motor, and the duty class has to match. Decide what the valve must do on loss of power or signal: fail open, fail closed or stay put. Finally check the environment: hazardous-area classification, ingress protection, ambient temperature and the coating required for coastal or desert sites. Actuators for classified areas are ordered with ATEX or IECEx certification that matches the zone, gas group and temperature class.
What to send for an actuator quotation
- Valve type, size, pressure class and required torque or thrust
- Power supply: air pressure, or voltage, phase and frequency
- Duty (on-off or modulating) and fail position
- Control signal and feedback, for example 4-20 mA, HART or a fieldbus
- Area classification and ambient temperature range
For a replacement, the nameplate data and serial number of the existing actuator are usually enough. We check the configuration against the manufacturer documentation before quoting, for projects across the GCC.
What to include in your inquiry
These details let us quote the right item the first time.
- Valve type, size and required torque or thrust
- Electric, pneumatic or hydraulic operation
- Power supply or air supply pressure
- On-off or modulating duty
- Fail-safe position
- Enclosure rating and hazardous-area approval
Missing some of them? Send what you have. A nameplate photo or an old part number is enough to start.

Frequently Asked Questions
Multi-turn actuators rotate the output many times and drive threaded stems on gate and globe valves, or gearboxes. Part-turn actuators move through about 90 degrees for ball, butterfly and plug valves. Linear actuators push or pull a stem directly, as on sliding-stem control valves. The valve type decides which one you need, and a multi-turn actuator can also be combined with a part-turn gearbox or a linear thrust unit.
Where instrument air is available and the valve must reach a safe position without external energy, a spring-return pneumatic actuator is the simple answer: the spring does the work when air or signal is lost. It also suits continuous throttling with frequent small movements. Electric actuators make sense where there is no air supply, on remote sites, or for large isolation valves that move infrequently.
Send the complete nameplate data: type code, serial number, supply, output speed and torque or thrust range. We check it against the manufacturer documentation and, where the model is discontinued, propose the manufacturer's successor. Mounting flange and stem coupling dimensions should be confirmed too, since an adapter may be needed between the new actuator and the existing valve.
Electric actuator motors are rated for a type of duty. Open-close and positioning duty assume short runs with rest periods, while modulating duty allows frequent starts over a long period. Using an open-close actuator for continuous control can overheat the motor and wear the gearing. State the expected number of starts per hour when you ask for a modulating actuator.
On request we provide the manufacturer's datasheet and the certificates the manufacturer issues for that unit. Typical examples are the ATEX or IECEx certificate for explosion-protected versions, a declaration of conformity, a wiring diagram for the ordered configuration and a works test report. If your project needs a SIL document or a specific paint specification, mention it in the inquiry.
Yes. Seven Star LLC is based in Muscat and quotes electric and pneumatic valve actuators for buyers in Oman, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait and Bahrain. Buyers in other countries can also send a request. For a quotation, send the valve type and size, required torque or thrust, power supply and control signal through the inquiry form.
This category currently lists items from AUMA, Masoneilan, ABB, Biffi, Rotork, Bettis, Fisher and Limitorque. Other manufacturers can be quoted on request: send the brand and the model or part number, and we will confirm whether we can source it.
