Ball Valves
Ball valves open and close a line with a quarter turn of a ported ball, giving tight shut-off and low pressure drop for isolation duty. Seven Star LLC, an independent supplier in Muscat, supplies ball valves from Swagelok, Neles, Flowserve, Spirax Sarco, Bray International, Georg Fischer, EBRO and Weflo to oil and gas, process and utility customers in Oman and the GCC.

Types of ball valve in this category
Small-bore instrument ball valves such as the Swagelok 40, 40G, 60 and 83 series isolate gauges, transmitters and sample lines, with tube fitting, NPT or VCR ends. Three-piece valves like the Flowserve Worcester Series 44, Spirax Sarco M10S and EBRO V-3MH can be serviced in line. Floating ball valves suit small and medium sizes, while trunnion-mounted valves such as the Neles Series D and API 6D trunnion ball valves handle large sizes and high pressures in pipelines. Flanged full-port valves like the Bray Series F15/F30 and Weflo ductile iron valves serve water and general industry, and Georg Fischer thermoplastic ball valves handle corrosive chemicals.
How to select a ball valve
Define size, pressure class and end connection first. Then choose the body material for the fluid and temperature, and the seat: PTFE and reinforced PTFE for general service, PEEK for higher pressure and temperature, metal seats for abrasive or hot service. Decide on full or reduced port, floating or trunnion design, fire-safe and anti-static requirements for hydrocarbons, and whether the valve will be manual, gear operated or actuated, which sets the stem and mounting pad.
Data needed for a quotation
Send the full valve code, or size, pressure class, end connection, body and seat materials, fluid, temperature, operator and quantity.
What to include in your inquiry
These details let us quote the right item the first time.
- Valve type and size (DN / NPS)
- Pressure class and end connection
- Body and trim material
- Fluid, flow rate, inlet and outlet pressure, temperature
- Actuator type and fail position
- Accessories: positioner, limit switches, solenoid
Missing some of them? Send what you have. A nameplate photo or an old part number is enough to start.

Frequently Asked Questions
In a floating valve the ball is pushed by line pressure against the downstream seat. In a trunnion valve the ball is held by shafts top and bottom, which lowers operating torque and suits large sizes and high pressures.
Standard ball valves are for on/off isolation; throttling wears the seats. For control use a characterised or segmented ball control valve.
The valve design has been tested to limit leakage after the soft seats burn away in a fire, typically to API 607 or ISO 10497. It is a common requirement for hydrocarbon service.
PTFE suits most clean services at moderate temperature, reinforced PTFE and PEEK handle higher pressure and temperature, and metal seats are used for abrasive, high temperature or severe service.
