Choosing maintenance products

How often should bearings be regreased?
The interval depends on bearing type, size, speed and temperature. The manufacturer calculates it from these factors, and high temperature or contamination shortens it.
Can different greases be mixed?
Only when the thickener and base oil are compatible. Mixing incompatible greases can soften or harden the film, so check the compatibility chart or purge the old grease.
Why use an induction heater to mount bearings?
It heats the inner ring evenly and controllably so it expands onto the shaft without hammering. Temperature is normally limited to about 120 degrees Celsius.
What is the risk of over-greasing?
Too much grease raises churning friction and temperature and can damage seals. Ultrasonic grease tools let the user stop when the signal shows a correct film.
How are automatic lubricators selected?
Choose by number of lubrication points, required grease amount per period, operating temperature, pressure and whether the area is classified for explosive atmospheres.
