Miller ProHeat 35 Induction Heating System Supplied by Seven Star LLC

Induction Heating & Preheating

Induction heating and preheating equipment heats metal by inducing current in the part itself, without a flame or a hot element in contact with it. Seven Star LLC lists two products in this category for buyers in Oman, and they serve different jobs: a Miller induction heating system for weld preheating and stress relieving, and an SKF induction bearing heater for mounting bearings. Other models and accessories can be sourced on request as the range grows.

Induction preheating for pipe and plate welding

Preheat slows the cooling of the weld zone and lets hydrogen escape, which lowers the cracking risk in thick sections and hardenable steels such as chrome-moly grades. An induction system wraps flexible cables or blankets around the joint and holds the temperature from thermocouple feedback. The heat is generated in the pipe wall, so it is even through the thickness, the coil stays comparatively cool and welders can work beside it. Recorded temperature data supports the documentation that power, refinery and pipeline projects in the GCC require.

Induction bearing heaters

A bearing heater expands the inner ring so the bearing slides onto the shaft for a shrink fit. Compared with oil baths or open flames, heating is controlled and clean.

What to send with your inquiry

For weld heating: pipe diameter, wall thickness, material, target temperature, number of joints heated at once and supply voltage. For a bearing heater: bearing bore, outside diameter, width and weight.

What to include in your inquiry

These details let us quote the right item the first time.

  • Welding process (MIG/MAG, TIG, MMA, SAW, plasma)
  • Current range and duty cycle
  • Supply voltage and phases
  • Material and thickness to be welded
  • Accessories needed (torch, wire feeder, cooler)

Missing some of them? Send what you have. A nameplate photo or an old part number is enough to start.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does induction preheating compare with resistance heating pads or gas torches?
Induction brings the joint to temperature faster and more evenly through the wall, and setup is quick because cables are simply wrapped around the pipe. Resistance pads are simple and widely used but take longer and get hot themselves. Gas torches depend on operator skill, heat unevenly and bring an open flame to the work area.
Can an induction heating system be used for post-weld heat treatment?
Induction systems are used for preheating, hydrogen bake-out and stress relieving, up to the temperature limit stated by the manufacturer for the power source and the cables or blankets. Whether a given system covers your heat treatment cycle depends on the required temperature, the pipe size and wall thickness. Send the cycle from your procedure so it can be checked against the documentation.
Which steels normally need preheat before welding?
Chrome-moly grades such as P11, P22 and P91, high-strength and quenched and tempered steels, and thick or highly restrained carbon steel joints. The preheat temperature depends on the material, thickness, hydrogen level of the consumable and the governing code. It is fixed in the welding procedure and must be maintained until the joint is complete or as the procedure states.
Why heat a bearing with an induction heater instead of an oil bath?
An induction heater warms the bearing evenly to a set temperature with a probe on the inner ring, so the risk of overheating and damaging the steel or the lubricant is low. There is no hot oil to handle and no contamination of the bearing. Many heaters also demagnetize the bearing at the end of the cycle.
What information do you need to quote induction heating equipment?
For weld preheating: pipe or plate dimensions, material grade, preheat and any stress relief temperature, how many joints are heated at the same time, cable or blanket lengths, recording requirements and supply voltage. For a bearing heater: the bore, outside diameter, width and weight of the largest and smallest bearings you mount, and the supply available.
