Emergency Power
The Emergency Power category covers the three layers a site uses to keep critical loads alive when the grid fails: uninterruptible power supplies with their batteries, diesel generator sets and engines, and solar inverters. Seven Star LLC in Muscat, Oman, lists UPS units from APC, Vertiv and Schneider Electric, stationary batteries from EnerSys, and generator sets, engines and spare parts from Cummins, DEUTZ and Perkins.

What the three emergency power sub-categories contain
UPS and Batteries holds line-interactive and online double-conversion UPS units, from small tower models up to modular three-phase systems, plus replacement battery blocks and the battery packs that keep DCS and controller memory alive. This is the layer that carries the load during the seconds or minutes before a generator takes over.
Diesel Generators & Spare Parts is split into complete generator sets and bare engines on one side, and service parts such as fuel injection pumps, starter motors, gasket sets and generator controllers on the other. This is the layer that carries the site for hours or days.
Solar Power holds grid-tied string inverters from SMA and Huawei, and Victron inverters, inverter-chargers and MPPT charge controllers for battery-based systems, used where a site wants to cut generator running hours or feed a remote load.
How UPS, battery and generator sizing fit together
A backup system is sized from the load list backwards. The UPS rating follows the real power and power factor of the protected equipment, and its battery autonomy only needs to cover generator start, transfer and a margin for a failed first start attempt. The generator must then carry the UPS input, including battery recharge current, together with motor starting loads, and its output has to stay inside the voltage and frequency window the UPS rectifier accepts. Ambient temperature matters at every step in the Gulf climate, because engines and alternators are derated in heat and lead-acid battery life shortens as the battery room gets warmer.
What to send for an emergency power supply quotation
For a UPS, give the load in kVA or kW, input and output voltage, number of phases, required autonomy and the mounting format. For a generator set, give the standby or prime rating, voltage, frequency, open or canopy type and the control functions. For spare parts, the part number and the engine serial number are enough. We check the configuration against the manufacturer documentation for buyers across the GCC and provide the manufacturer’s datasheet on request.
What to include in your inquiry
These details let us quote the right item the first time.
- Required power (kVA or kW)
- Voltage and frequency
- Backup time, for UPS and batteries
- Engine or generator model and serial number, for spare parts
- Site conditions (ambient temperature, indoor or outdoor)
- Quantity
Missing some of them? Send what you have. A nameplate photo or an old part number is enough to start.

Frequently Asked Questions
The UPS keeps feeding its load from the battery without a break. The generator controller detects the mains failure, starts the engine, waits for voltage and frequency to stabilize, and then the transfer switch moves the site load to the generator. The UPS rectifier comes back on the generator supply and recharges the battery. When mains returns and stays healthy for a set time, the load transfers back and the engine runs a cool-down period.
ISO 8528 defines them by duty. Emergency standby power covers a variable load for the duration of a utility outage, with limited running hours per year and no overload allowance. Prime power allows unlimited hours at a variable load. Continuous power is for a constant load with unlimited hours. The same engine and alternator carry a different kVA figure under each rating, so the duty must be stated in the inquiry.
Yes, the two are not tied to each other by brand. What matters is electrical compatibility: the generator has to be large enough for the UPS input current including battery recharge, the alternator must tolerate the harmonic current drawn by the rectifier, and the generator frequency must stay within the input window of the UPS. A generator sized exactly to the UPS output rating is usually too small.
Only enough to bridge the generator start and transfer, plus a margin for a second or third start attempt and for an orderly shutdown if the engine does not start at all. Many sites settle on ten to fifteen minutes at full load. Longer autonomy is specified where no generator exists or where the process needs time to reach a safe state on battery alone.
For a UPS: load in VA and watts, input and output voltage, phases, runtime and rack or tower format. For a generator set: kVA with standby or prime duty, voltage, frequency, open or canopy type and control functions such as auto mains failure. For batteries: block voltage, capacity, terminal type and dimensions. For engine parts: the part number and the engine serial number from the dataplate.
