About Roller Bearings

2 products 1 brand

Roller bearings use cylindrical, spherical or tapered rollers and carry higher loads than ball bearings of the same size. Seven Star LLC, an independent supplier in Muscat, supplies cylindrical, spherical, tapered, CARB, thrust and crossed roller bearings from SKF, Timken, NSK and HIWIN to customers in Oman and the GCC.

Roller bearing types listed

Cylindrical roller bearings (NU, NJ, N, NUP) carry heavy radial load at high speed. Spherical roller bearings accommodate misalignment and shock loads in fans, crushers and gearboxes. Tapered roller bearings take combined loads in pairs. CARB toroidal bearings accept axial displacement. Thrust roller and crossed roller bearings handle axial and tilting loads.

Selecting a roller bearing

Compare load ratings, speed limit, misalignment allowance, cage type and clearance class. Tapered bearings need correct adjustment, and cylindrical bearings need a minimum radial load.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the advantage of a spherical roller bearing?
Its self-aligning raceway tolerates shaft deflection and housing misalignment while carrying heavy radial and moderate axial loads, which suits fans, gearboxes and mining equipment.
How does a CARB bearing differ from a spherical roller bearing?
A CARB toroidal bearing allows axial displacement of the rings inside the bearing, so it suits the non-locating position where shaft expansion occurs, and it also tolerates some misalignment.
Why are tapered roller bearings mounted in pairs?
A single tapered bearing carries axial load in one direction only. Two opposed bearings locate the shaft both ways, and their internal clearance or preload is set by adjustment.
What do the NU, NJ, N and NUP prefixes mean?
They describe the flange arrangement on the rings. NU has two flanges on the outer ring, N on the inner ring, NJ has one flange on the outer ring, and NUP adds a loose flange ring. The choice decides axial location.
What is a crossed roller bearing used for?
Its rollers are arranged at right angles so one bearing takes radial, axial and moment loads with high rigidity, as in robot joints and rotary tables.
