ABB AWT210 2-wire conductivity, pH/ORP pION transmitter
Overview
The ABB AWT210 2-Wire Conductivity, pH/ORP pION Transmitter is a loop-powered, modular field transmitter engineered for accurate measurement of pH, ORP (oxidation-reduction potential), conductivity, and custom pION parameters across a single compact platform. Built on ABB’s plug-and-play modular technology, the AWT210 accepts a wide range of sensor types – from conventional 2-electrode and 4-electrode conductivity cells to toroidal conductivity sensors and digital EZLink pH/ORP sensors – letting one transmitter platform standardize instrumentation across multiple measurement points in a plant.
Working closely with plant engineers in the region, Seven Star LLC proudly supplies the AWT210 transmitter to water treatment, chemical, power, and food & beverage operators across the Sultanate of Oman and the wider Gulf region. Every unit is supplied on request with manufacturer documentation, regional technical support, and access to original ABB sensors and accessories – with lead time and availability confirmed at quotation.
Operating Principle
The AWT210 is a genuinely 2-wire, loop-powered transmitter, meaning both power and signal share the same two-conductor field wiring – a significant installation cost advantage over a 4-wire transmitter that requires separate power and signal cabling runs back to the control room. For HART models, the AWT210 operates on 14–42 VDC in general-purpose areas or 14–30 VDC in intrinsically safe installations, with a polarity-safe design and a 14 VDC lift-off voltage; Foundation Fieldbus and PROFIBUS PA variants operate on 9–32 VDC (general purpose) or 9–24 VDC (intrinsically safe).
Sensor connectivity is handled through ABB’s EZLink digital technology for pH/ORP sensors, giving a quick, secure digital connection that eliminates the calibration drift and cable-length sensitivity that a purely analog sensor cable can introduce, alongside conventional analog inputs for glass or antimony pH electrodes and platinum or gold ORP electrodes. Intuitive one-button calibration and advanced self-diagnostics simplify commissioning and ongoing maintenance, while multi-level security access controls who can change calibration or configuration settings on a plant with multiple operator roles.
Engineering Design of the ABB AWT210
The AWT210 is housed in a compact 144 × 144 × 99 mm enclosure available in either aluminum (1.04 kg) or polycarbonate (0.7 kg) construction, both rated IP66/NEMA 4X for reliable outdoor and washdown-prone field installation. The transmitter operates across a –20°C to 60°C ambient temperature range, and both enclosure options carry ATEX/IECEx/UKEX II 1G Ex ia IIC T4 Ga and cFMus intrinsic-safety certification (the cFMus non-incendive approval applies to the aluminum enclosure only), making the AWT210 suitable for installation in classified areas without needing a separate explosion-proof housing.
Three digital communication options are available – HART, Foundation Fieldbus, or PROFIBUS PA – each supported by DTM, EDD, or FDI software drivers for integration with the plant’s asset management and configuration tools. This protocol flexibility means the same AWT210 platform can be specified consistently across a plant regardless of whether a given area runs a HART-based analog architecture or a full digital fieldbus network, simplifying spares holding and technician training.

Industrial Applications
pH, ORP, and conductivity monitoring underpin process control and water quality assurance across a wide range of Oman and the GCC’s industrial sectors, and the AWT210’s multi-parameter, multi-protocol flexibility makes it a natural standard-platform choice. In water and wastewater treatment, the AWT210 monitors pH for neutralization control and conductivity for demineralized water quality, while in chemical processing it tracks ORP for oxidation-reduction reactions and pH for reagent dosing control. In power generation, the same transmitter platform monitors boiler feedwater and cooling water chemistry, and in food & beverage processing it supports pH and conductivity monitoring for CIP (clean-in-place) verification and product quality assurance.
With fast quotation turnaround and technical support, Seven Star LLC distributes the AWT210 transmitter to water utilities, chemical plants, power generation facilities, and food & beverage processors across Muscat, Sohar, and Salalah, as well as the wider Gulf region. Its 2-wire, loop-powered architecture makes it particularly cost-effective for multi-point installations where field wiring runs are long or numerous.

AWT210 Ordering Structure
An AWT210 order is built from four choices plus options. First the enclosure, polycarbonate or aluminum. Second the sensor input module: digital EZLink, pH/ORP for analog sensors, 2-electrode conductivity, 4-electrode conductivity, toroidal conductivity, or a base unit with no module. Third the communications module: HART, PROFIBUS PA, FOUNDATION Fieldbus, or none. Fourth the agency approval: CE only, intrinsic safety to cFMus and ATEX/IECEx/UKEX, or non-incendive cFMus together with intrinsic safety, which is available only with the aluminum enclosure. Modules are factory calibrated and fitted by hand.
Optional codes are added after the main code. Mounting accessories are A1 pipe-mount kit, A2 panel-mount kit, A3 weathershield and A4 pipe-mount kit with weathershield; pipe mounting suits pipe diameters from 45 to 62 mm and panel mounting needs a 138 × 138 mm cut-out in a panel up to 6 mm thick. Cable entry packs are U1 with two M20 glands, U2 with two M16 glands and U3 with two 1/2 in NPT glands. Communications and sensor modules are also sold as separate assemblies, so a transmitter can be converted later.
Sensor Compatibility and Cable Lengths
The EZLink module accepts ABB digital pH/ORP sensors of the 100 GP-D, 100 ULTRA-D, 500 PRO-D and 700 ULTRA-D families, with automatic sensor recognition and set-up. EZLink sensors come with a fixed 1 m or 10 m cable, extension cables are offered from 1 to 50 m, and the total length including extension is limited to 60 m; the connector is IP67 when mated. The analog pH/ORP module accepts glass and antimony pH electrodes and platinum or gold ORP electrodes, including ABB TB5, TBX5, AP100, AP200 and AP300 series sensors, and most sensors of other makes.
The conductivity modules are specific to the measuring principle, so the module must match the cell: 2-electrode cells with constants 0.01, 0.1 or 1 for ranges up to 200, 2000 or 20000 µS/cm, 4-electrode sensors in two groups up to 2000 µS/cm or 2000 mS/cm, and ABB toroidal sensors up to 2000 mS/cm. Preinstalled concentration curves cover NaOH, NaCl, HCl and H2SO4, with a user-defined curve as an alternative. ORP and antimony pH sensors carry no temperature element, so manual compensation is set for them.
