JUMO AQUIS 500 RS Display Unit and Controller for Modbus Digital Sensors, Type 202569

Description

A controller that reads digital Modbus sensors for oxygen, disinfectants and turbidity

The JUMO AQUIS 500 RS (type 202569) is a display unit and controller for digital sensors that speak Modbus on RS485. It has one digital interface, one analog temperature input and one binary input, and it supplies the digital sensor itself. A backlit graphic LCD shows large digits, a bar graph or a trend display in plain-text menus, and up to two relay changeover contacts and two freely scalable analog outputs allow switching, alarm and P, PI, PD or PID control tasks. The datasheet lists dissolved oxygen sensors 202613 and 202614, free and total chlorine, chlorine dioxide and ozone, hydrogen peroxide and peracetic acid, bromine and the turbidity sensor 202670 as supported measurements.

Function highlights from the datasheet

Three display modes serve different tasks: large digits, a trend arrow that shows direction and speed of change, and a freely scalable bar graph. The unit offers a min/max memory, keypad lock, hold mode and alarm suppression through the binary input, a wash timer that stops the control while a sensor wash runs, and a simulation function for dry-run start-up. Setup is by menu, by an optional PC program on CD-ROM (00483602) or by a PC interface cable (00456352), which also allows extra user languages to be downloaded.

For oxygen measurement the unit can compensate salinity and ambient pressure, and it can protect the luminescence layer of the ecoLine O-DO by lowering the sampling rate. For membrane-covered tecLine sensors a flow monitor type 202811/20 can be wired to the binary input to hold the controller when inflow drops.

Ordering, mounting and companions

Choose panel (10) or surface-mounted (20) case, the number of analog outputs and relays, and the supply voltage. Mounting accessories listed include a protective roof (00398161), pipe mounting kit (00483664), DIN-rail kit (00477842), support pillar with pedestal, cantilever arm and chain (00398163), a holder for a suspended fitting (00453191) and a rear case wall kit (00506351). The device is designed for on-site use, and a ventilation screw with a PTFE membrane prevents condensation on the IP67 case.

Control logic is flexible. The two relay contacts can act as limit switches with programmable hysteresis and on and off delays, as an alarm window, as a pulse contact that switches on and off after a defined time, or as pulse-length, pulse-frequency or modulating controllers on the main value, while switching functions can also be assigned to the auxiliary input. Analog outputs can carry either measured values or the controller output, and their behaviour during calibration, fault and hold states is programmable individually. Operation is protected by a code word, with parameters individually released if needed.

Published related items include the dTRANS AS 02 and AQUIS touch P; the liquid analytical systems category lists further liquid analysis equipment. For an enquiry list the sensor type and code, the number of outputs and relays, supply voltage, mounting method and whether a temperature probe or flow monitor is needed.

About brand

JUMO is the German maker of temperature sensors, process controllers, pressure transmitters and liquid analysis instruments. Moritz Kurt Juchheim founded it in Fulda in 1948 as M. K. Juchheim KG, making glass thermometers with six employees. The name JUMO comes from the founder's name. It is still a family company headquartered in Fulda, and the parent company has been called JUMO GmbH & Co. KG since 2003.

Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list JUMO RTD and thermocouple probes, thermowells, transmitters, controllers, recorders and water analysis instruments, and supply them to process plants, OEMs, HVAC contractors and water utilities in Oman and the GCC by type number.

Choosing a temperature sensor starts with the range and accuracy. A Pt100 RTD is accurate and stable from about -200 to 600 °C and is the usual choice in process plants. A thermocouple (type K or J, for example) covers much higher temperatures and responds faster but is less accurate. The wiring also matters: a 3-wire or 4-wire Pt100 connection cancels the resistance of the cable, while a 2-wire connection adds an error that grows with cable length. That is why a head-mounted transmitter is often fitted close to the sensor.

Where JUMO products are used

In Oman and the GCC, JUMO sensors and controllers are used in oil and gas and chemical plants, food and beverage production, plastics and metal heat treatment, HVAC and district cooling, water and wastewater treatment, swimming pools and marine applications.

Ordering JUMO products: what we need

Send the JUMO type number and the full order code from the label (for example 902020/10-...). For probes, add the sensor type (Pt100, Pt1000, type K or J), the number of wires, the insertion length and diameter, and the process connection. For controllers, add the input, outputs and supply voltage.
