LongTeng ER70S-6 Carbon Steel Solid MIG Welding Wire Supplied by Seven Star LLC

Solid Welding Wire

Solid welding wire is the continuous bare or copper-coated wire used for gas-shielded MIG/MAG (GMAW) welding. Seven Star LLC supplies solid MIG wire in Oman from LongTeng, Ador Welding, Hyundai Welding and Lincoln Electric. The listing runs from everyday carbon steel grades such as ER70S-6, through high-strength ER80S-G to ER110S-G, to a chrome-moly ER90S-B3, a duplex ER2209 and a nickel alloy 625 wire. Every product title includes the AWS classification, so the wire can be checked directly against the welding procedure.

Solid MIG wire grades in this category

Carbon steel wires are classified under AWS A5.18. ER70S-3, ER70S-4 and ER70S-6 differ mainly in silicon and manganese content. The higher deoxidizer level of ER70S-6 copes better with mill scale and light rust and gives a more fluid pool, which is why it is the default in structural and general fabrication. A copper-free ER70S-6 is listed as well.

Low-alloy wires fall under AWS A5.28. The G suffix means the chemistry is agreed between maker and buyer, so two ER80S-G wires are not necessarily alike and the datasheets have to be compared. ER90S-B3 matches 2.25Cr-1Mo steels. ER2209 is the standard filler for 22Cr duplex stainless steel, and ERNiCrMo-3 is used on alloy 625, for weld overlay and for dissimilar joints.

Choosing diameter, shielding gas and packaging

Diameter follows plate thickness and transfer mode: smaller wires for sheet and positional short-circuit work, larger ones for spray or pulsed transfer on plate. Carbon steel wire runs on CO2 or argon-CO2 mixtures, while stainless, duplex and nickel wires need the argon-rich gases named on the wire datasheet. Packaging deserves the same attention as grade. Spools suit manual stations, and bulk drums cut changeovers on robots and mechanized seams.

Data for a solid wire inquiry

Send the AWS classification, diameter, spool or drum size, total quantity, shielding gas and the certificate type required. Fabricators working to GCC project specifications should also mention any approved manufacturer list, so that we propose only acceptable brands.

What to include in your inquiry

These details let us quote the right item the first time.

  • AWS or EN classification
  • Diameter
  • Base material to be welded
  • Packaging (spool, drum, kg) and quantity
  • Approvals or certificates required

Missing some of them? Send what you have. A nameplate photo or an old part number is enough to start.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the practical difference between ER70S-3, ER70S-4 and ER70S-6?
All three are AWS A5.18 carbon steel wires of the same strength class. They differ in deoxidizer content. ER70S-3 has the least silicon and manganese and suits clean plate. ER70S-4 sits in between. ER70S-6 has the most, so it tolerates mill scale better and wets the joint edges more easily, which makes it the common general-purpose choice.
What does the G mean in ER80S-G or ER110S-G, and can I swap one brand for another?
G stands for general. The classification fixes the strength level, but the chemical composition is left to agreement between manufacturer and purchaser. Two wires with the same G classification can therefore have different alloying and different impact properties. Before substituting, compare both datasheets and check that your procedure qualification covers the change.
Why would I choose a copper-free solid wire?
Conventional carbon steel wire is copper coated to help current transfer at the contact tip and to resist rusting. Copper-free wires use a different surface treatment. Users choose them to reduce copper particles building up in liners and feeders on long production runs and to lower copper in the welding fume. Feeding setup and tip wear should be checked on a trial spool.
Which shielding gas is used with duplex and nickel alloy solid wire?
These wires are welded with argon-rich mixtures, often with helium or a very small active gas addition, as stated on the wire manufacturer's datasheet. The CO2-rich mixtures used for carbon steel are not suitable, because carbon pickup and oxidation damage corrosion resistance. Follow the gas named in the qualified procedure, and use a root purge on pipe.
What should a quotation request for MIG wire include?
State the AWS classification, wire diameter, packaging (spool weight or drum), quantity in kilograms and the shielding gas. Mention the base metal and thickness if you would like the match checked, and the certificate type required, for example EN 10204 3.1. For G-class wires, send the datasheet of the product you use now so we can compare chemistry.
