Types of valve and fitting in this category

Needle valves give fine flow regulation and shut-off on instrument and sample lines, with integral or union bonnets and several stem tips. Plug valves such as the Swagelok CP series give quick quarter-turn on/off service with a compact body. Toggle valves open and close quickly for purge and vent lines. Bellows-sealed valves replace the stem packing with a welded metal bellows for leak-tight service on toxic or high-purity gases, and diaphragm valves serve ultrahigh-purity systems in laboratories and semiconductor gas lines. How to select an instrument valve

Start with the function: flow regulation, on/off, venting or high-purity isolation. Then check pressure and temperature ratings, the flow coefficient (Cv), end connections (tube fitting, NPT, VCR or weld), body material and seal materials for the fluid. Consider panel mounting, colour-coded handles and locking options. Keep tube fittings and tubing from the same system to retain the manufacturer’s pressure rating.
