Valve Actuators

Electric Actuators

Electric actuators open, close and position valves and dampers from a motor and gearbox, with local or remote control from a DCS, PLC or SCADA system. Seven Star LLC, an independent supplier in Muscat, supplies electric actuators from AUMA, Schischek, ABB, Biffi, Flowserve Limitorque, Rotork, Bettis, Johnson Controls, SAUTER and EBRO to oil and gas, water and building customers in Oman and the GCC.

Types of electric actuator in this category

Multi-turn actuators such as the AUMA SA and SAR, the explosion-proof SAEx and SAREx and the Flowserve Limitorque L120 drive gate and globe valves. Part-turn actuators including the AUMA SQ, SQEx, SGC and PROFOX, Bettis SCE300 and Biffi EFS fail-safe units operate ball, plug and butterfly valves. Linear units like the AUMA LE and the ABB Contrac RSD series stroke control valves, and ABB Contrac rotary actuators and Schischek ExMax and RedMax units serve modulating and ATEX damper duty. Building automation actuators from Johnson Controls and SAUTER drive HVAC valves and dampers.

How to select a electric actuator

Define valve type, required torque or thrust, number of turns or travel and operating time. Choose on/off or modulating duty, the control interface (hardwired, 4-20 mA, HART, Profibus, Modbus, Foundation Fieldbus) and integral controls if needed. Confirm supply voltage, enclosure rating, hazardous area certification (ATEX or IECEx), fail-safe requirement and the valve mounting flange to ISO 5210 or ISO 5211.

Data needed for a quotation

Send the actuator type code, or valve type and size, torque, operating time, voltage, control signal, Ex rating and quantity.

What to include in your inquiry

These details let us quote the right item the first time.

  • Valve type, size and required torque or thrust
  • Electric, pneumatic or hydraulic operation
  • Power supply or air supply pressure
  • On-off or modulating duty
  • Fail-safe position
  • Enclosure rating and hazardous-area approval

Missing some of them? Send what you have. A nameplate photo or an old part number is enough to start.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between multi-turn and part-turn actuators?
Multi-turn actuators make many revolutions to drive gate or globe valves. Part-turn actuators rotate 90 degrees for ball, plug and butterfly valves.
Can an electric actuator modulate?
Yes. Modulating actuators such as the AUMA SAR range accept a position signal and are rated for frequent starts for control duty.
Are explosion-proof electric actuators available?
Yes. Models such as AUMA SAEx and SQEx and Schischek ExMax are certified for hazardous areas. Check the required zone, gas group and temperature class.
How is an actuator mounted to a valve?
Through a standard flange to ISO 5210 for multi-turn or ISO 5211 for part-turn, with a coupling matched to the valve stem.
What should I send for a quotation?
The type code, or valve details, torque, speed, voltage, control interface, Ex certification and quantity.
