Pall Ultipleat High Flow system housings are built around large-diameter high flow cartridges, so a high liquid flow is handled with few elements and a compact vessel. The Hydac RFM is a return line filter that mounts on top of a hydraulic reservoir and cleans the oil coming back from the system before it enters the tank. The 3M Liqui-Cel EXF-4×13 is a membrane contactor: liquid passes on one side of hollow fiber membranes while vacuum or a sweep gas on the other side strips dissolved oxygen, carbon dioxide or other gases, without mixing the phases. A mobile filtration unit for water treatment is also listed, for temporary or movable duties.
How to specify a filtration system
State the fluid and its contaminant, the flow rate, operating and design pressure and temperature, and the result required: a particle rating, a cleanliness code for oil, or a dissolved gas level for water. Add the connection sizes, materials and any design code for the vessel. For hydraulic return filters, the reservoir mounting pattern and the element rating are needed. We check each configuration against the manufacturer documentation for buyers across the GCC.

What is a membrane contactor used for?
It removes or adds gases in a liquid. The most common duty is taking dissolved oxygen and carbon dioxide out of water to limit corrosion and to reduce the load on ion exchange or electrodeionization stages in pure water plants. Compared with a vacuum tower it is compact and modular. Feed water must be prefiltered, because the fine fibers are sensitive to particles and oils.
Why is a return line filter used in a hydraulic system?
Most dirt in a hydraulic system is generated inside it, by wear of pumps, valves and cylinders, or enters past rod seals. A return line filter catches this before the oil reaches the tank, so the pump draws clean oil. Tank-top designs save piping and make element changes easy. They are sized for the peak return flow, which can exceed pump flow when cylinders retract.
How does a high flow filter system differ from a conventional cartridge housing?
A conventional multi-cartridge housing may need dozens of standard elements for a large flow. A high flow system uses a few large-diameter pleated cartridges, each carrying many times the flow of a standard one. The vessel is smaller, changeout takes less time and there are fewer seals to leak. The elements are specific to the system, so replacement cartridges must match the housing series.
When is a mobile filtration unit the right choice?
Mobile or skid-mounted units are used where a permanent plant is not justified or not yet built: temporary water supply on project sites, flushing and cleaning of systems before start-up, bypass treatment during maintenance of a fixed plant, and trials of a process. Give the raw water source and analysis, the required output quality and flow, and the power available so the unit can be matched.
How do I know which replacement elements fit a filtration system?
Look for the nameplate on the housing or filter head. It carries the model code, and the manufacturer documentation lists the element part numbers that belong to it, usually in several ratings and media. Send us that code, or the part number printed on the element now fitted. We check it against the manufacturer documentation and confirm the correct element and seal kit.
