Brand:

JUMO safetyM TB/TW Temperature Limiter and Monitor to DIN EN 14597, Type 701160

Description

A DIN-rail temperature limiter that works as TB or TW

The JUMO safetyM TB/TW (type 701160) is a freely programmable temperature limiting device on a 35 mm DIN rail with an alphanumeric display. Its measurement input is configurable for RTD probes, thermocouples, current and voltage signals. Configured as a temperature limiter (TB), the built-in relay, protected by an internal fuse, drives the plant to a safe state when the limit value is exceeded and the status LED K1 changes from green to red. The limiter stays locked until a reset button is released manually with a suitable tool once the process is back in the permitted range.

Configured as a temperature monitor (TW), the same relay resets automatically without any outside action. A 24 V / 20 mA binary output provides a pre-alarm signal at an adjustable temperature below the limit, shown by LED KV. The pre-alarm can be set as an absolute value or relative to the limit value. Two Pt100 probes can be connected for differential measurement, 17 linearizations can be set, and a digital input filter has an adjustable time constant.

Selecting probes, accessories and wiring for the safetyM TB/TW

The datasheet lists DIN-approved probes for operation in air without a thermowell, because high response accuracy makes the use of pockets inadmissible. They include the RTD temperature probe 902006/10-402-1003-1-9-100-104/000 (1 x Pt100, -40 to +400 degC, 100 mm, G1/2), a double Pt100 version, and the movable 902006/54-227 variants (-170 to 550 degC). Thermocouple options include 901006/54-544 types with NiCr-Ni K (-35 to 550 degC) or FeCuNi L elements. For air, water and oil, a probe 90.2006/10-390-1003-1-8-250-104/000 (max. 300 degC) and a thermocouple 901006/45-551 (max. 150 degC) are named.

Fault behaviour, locking and installation

Overrange and underrange are detected and light LEDs K1 and KV while 1999 flashes in the display. A probe or lead break is detected for RTD and thermocouple inputs and for 4 to 20 mA and 2 to 10 V, and relay K1 is then active; for a probe short-circuit on RTD inputs relay K1 is inactive. Short-circuit is not detected on thermocouples. Internal and external locking options exist, and an external reset button RT is available.

The unit is wired through screw terminals of 0.2 to 2.5 mm2. When a 2-wire RTD with long cable is used, the lead resistance must be entered in the setup program and transferred to the device. Clearances and creep paths are at least 6 mm and 8 mm respectively between mains, relay and electronics. Typical uses are electric heaters, thermal oil and process heating circuits, ovens and any plant where a limiter to the DIN EN 14597 family is required; the datasheet states these approvals apply to all instrument versions.

As general guidance, record the order code printed on the nameplate before requesting a quotation, and keep the data sheet revision with the project documents so that later replacements match the installed device. Tell us the quantity, the delivery location in Oman and any wiring or mounting accessories you also need, and we will confirm availability and lead time for the exact variant.

About brand

Temperature measurement is the origin of JUMO, founded in 1948 in Fulda, Germany, as a maker of glass thermometers. Today the catalog covers sensors and transmitters for temperature, pressure, level and liquid analysis, plus controllers and recorders. Seven Star LLC lists JUMO RTD probes, pressure and differential pressure transmitters, pH, conductivity, turbidity and dissolved oxygen instruments, and sources them for plants in Oman.

JUMO product families listed

JUMO uses family names that recur across the catalog:

  • dTRANS: transmitters, including dTRANS T01 and T100 for temperature, dTRANS p02 DELTA for differential pressure, and dTRANS pH 02 and CR 02 for liquid analysis
  • Wtrans: wireless probes and transmitters, such as Wtrans T for RTD temperature and Wtrans p for pressure
  • digiLine and ecoLine: digital and optical analysis sensors, for example the digiLine O-DO S10 dissolved oxygen sensor and the ecoLine NTU turbidity sensor
  • NESOS: float-based level transmitters and switches
  • RTD temperature probes: screw-in types such as 902030 and mineral-insulated designs

Where JUMO sensors are used

JUMO sensors and transmitters are typical of food and beverage lines, water and wastewater treatment, pharmaceutical utilities, heating and cooling systems, and packaged machinery supplied to the GCC by European builders. Many requests are for a like-for-like replacement of a probe fitted by the machine maker, where length, thread and connector have to match exactly.

Ordering JUMO parts: what we need

JUMO identifies each product group by a six-digit type number, such as 902030, followed by an order code that fixes the options. The label of the delivered item normally carries a part number as well. Send whichever you have, ideally both, or a photo of the label. For JUMO temperature probes add insertion length, diameter, process connection, sensor type and wiring. For JUMO pressure sensors state range, output, process connection and electrical connector. For analysis sensors name the transmitter they connect to and the cable length.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between TB and TW?
A TB (limiter) stays locked until manually reset; a TW (monitor) resets automatically when the process returns to normal.
