Measurement Principle

The JUMO ecoLine NTU determines turbidity using the 90° scattered-light principle specified in DIN EN ISO 7027, in which an infrared light source at 880 nm is directed into the measured medium and a detector positioned at 90° to the beam captures the light scattered by suspended particles. The intensity of this scattered light is directly proportional to the concentration of suspended solids in the water, allowing the sensor to report a turbidity value with a measuring error of less than 5% of the displayed reading and a resolution as fine as 0.01 NTU depending on the selected measuring range.
