Enclosure Climate Control
Enclosure climate control keeps drives, PLCs and power electronics inside control panels within their temperature limits. In GCC summers, outdoor and plant-room enclosures reach temperatures that shorten component life or trip equipment, while condensation in cooler hours causes corrosion. Seven Star LLC, an independent supplier in Muscat, supplies enclosure climate control products from Pfannenberg and Rittal to panel builders and plants in Oman and the GCC.

Filter fans move ambient air through the enclosure when the outside air is cooler than the required inside temperature and reasonably clean. Cooling units from Pfannenberg and Rittal use a refrigeration circuit to cool the enclosure below ambient while keeping the inside sealed from dust and humidity, which is the common choice in the region. Air-to-water heat exchangers remove heat where chilled water is available. Enclosure heaters such as the Pfannenberg FLH radiant heaters and PFH and FLH-T fan heaters prevent condensation and keep components above minimum temperatures, controlled by thermostats and hygrostats.
How to select enclosure climate control
Calculate the heat load from the installed components plus the heat entering through the enclosure walls from ambient and sunlight. Compare the required inside temperature with the maximum ambient: if ambient is higher, a cooling unit or heat exchanger is needed. Check IP and NEMA ratings, mounting (side, roof or recessed), voltage and condensate management. For outdoor and dusty sites, choose units rated for high ambient temperature and protected against sand.

Frequently Asked Questions
Only when the outside air is always cooler than the target inside temperature and clean enough to filter. In most GCC outdoor and plant-room locations a cooling unit is needed.
Add the heat dissipated by components to the heat transferred through the enclosure surface, which depends on area, material, ambient temperature and solar load. Manufacturers provide calculation tools.
At night or in air-conditioned rooms the temperature can drop below the dew point, causing condensation. A heater with a hygrostat keeps the air above the dew point.
Yes. Condenser coils and filters must be cleaned regularly, especially in dusty areas, or the unit loses capacity and the enclosure overheats.
