Inductive Proximity Sensors

Inductive proximity sensors detect metal targets without mechanical contact in machine and automation installations. Select the sensor by its rated and assured sensing distances, flush or non-flush mounting, supply voltage, PNP or NPN output, and normally open or normally closed function. Housing size, material, cable length and connector arrangement also distinguish individual executions. Check target material correction factors, switching frequency and environmental limits against the exact manufacturer documentation. Send Seven Star LLC the complete model and order reference, quantity, target material and installation details for product-selection and quotation enquiries.

What to include in your inquiry

These details let us quote the right item the first time.

  • Measured variable and range
  • Medium, pressure and temperature
  • Process connection and material
  • Output signal or protocol
  • Model code or nameplate photo of the existing device
  • Hazardous-area approval, if required

Missing some of them? Send what you have. A nameplate photo or an old part number is enough to start.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between flush and non-flush mounting?
A flush sensor can be embedded in metal up to its sensing face. A non-flush sensor needs a free zone around the face and in return offers a longer sensing distance for the same housing size.
Does the target material change the sensing distance?
Yes. The rated distance refers to a standard steel target. Stainless steel, aluminium, brass and copper reduce the distance by a correction factor given in the datasheet.
Should I choose PNP or NPN?
It depends on the input card of the controller. PNP sensors switch the positive supply to the input and are common in Europe; NPN sensors switch to 0 V. The two are not interchangeable on the same input.
What is the difference between rated and assured sensing distance?
The rated distance is a nominal value. The assured distance is the range in which the sensor operates reliably across temperature and voltage tolerances, and it is the figure to use for mounting.
What should I send for a quotation?
Send the order code or type code, housing size, output type, connection (cable or connector) and quantity.
