JUMO 902520 Indoor, Outdoor, Wall and Channel RTD Temperature Probes for HVAC

Description

Plastic-housed room, wall, outdoor and duct sensors for air conditioning

The JUMO 902520 data sheet covers a family of indoor, outdoor, wall and channel RTD temperature probes for air-conditioning technology, used mainly for temperature measurement in rooms, in air channels and outdoors. Temperatures from -50 to +200 degC are covered, the housings are plastic, and protection types run from IP20 to IP65. Connection is available in two-wire, three-wire or four-wire circuit, and an analog transmitter can be integrated as an option.

The standard measuring insert is a Pt100 to DIN EN 60751 class B in two-wire circuit. Pt500, Pt1000, Ni1000, KTY 81-110, LM235 Z and several NTC elements are also listed. The sheet is organised in three groups: indoor and outdoor probes (902520/10 at IP20, /11 at IP54 and /15 at IP65), wall probes with an internal sensor, an outer sensor, a stepped-down tube or a push-in probe on 2500 mm PVC cable (902520/21 to /24, all IP65), and the plug-in channel probe 902524/25 with a smooth 6 mm protection tube at IP54, plus related 902524/31 and /32 types.

Selecting an HVAC probe type and decoding the order code

Order codes are short: basic type – operating temperature – measuring insert – tolerance class / extra codes, for example 902520/10 – 572 – 1001 – 1 / 000 for an indoor probe, 902520/21 – 573 – 1003 – 1 / 000 for a wall probe, and 902524/25 – 380 – 1003 – 1 – 6 – 100 – 000 / 000 for a duct probe with 100 mm nominal length. Choose the housing by environment: IP20 is for dry occupied rooms, IP54 suits damp indoor and covered outdoor use, and IP65 is used for outdoor and wall-mounted positions exposed to spray. Operating ranges 803 (0 to 40 degC) and 807 (0 to 60 degC) apply only in conjunction with a transmitter.

Extra code Meaning
058 SIL and PL-compatible
242 Spring-cage terminal (wall probes)
330 1 x analog transmitter 4 to 20 mA (with 1 x Pt100), data sheet 707030
333 1 x analog transmitter 0 to 10 V (with 1 x Pt100)
903 Cable fitting IP65 (indoor/outdoor types)
310 / 404 Stepped tube 6 to 3.3 mm / IP65 (channel type)

The measuring range of an integrated transmitter is specified in plain text at order. Process connections for the channel probe are described in the accessories section of the datasheet.

Placement, signal choice and wiring notes

Mount room sensors on an inside wall away from sunlight, supply air jets and heat sources, and locate duct sensors where the air stream is well mixed. Outdoor sensors should be shaded from direct sun. A 2-wire Pt100 includes the resistance of its cable in the reading, so a transmitter or 3-wire connection is advisable for long runs; the integrated transmitters give a linear 4 to 20 mA or 0 to 10 V output that building management controllers read directly.

With a transmitter the 4 to 20 mA output needs a supply of 7.5 to 30 V DC with burden RB = (Ub – 7.5 V) / 22 mA, while the 0 to 10 V output needs 15 to 30 V DC. In a hot climate, specify the range up to +90 degC or more for roof-level and plant-room measurements, and use class A elements where energy metering or balancing depends on small temperature differences. These probes complement the frost, thermostat and indicator devices for air-handling units listed elsewhere on this site.

About brand

Temperature measurement is the origin of JUMO, founded in 1948 in Fulda, Germany, as a maker of glass thermometers. Today the catalog covers sensors and transmitters for temperature, pressure, level and liquid analysis, plus controllers and recorders. Seven Star LLC lists JUMO RTD probes, pressure and differential pressure transmitters, pH, conductivity, turbidity and dissolved oxygen instruments, and sources them for plants in Oman.

JUMO product families listed

JUMO uses family names that recur across the catalog:

  • dTRANS: transmitters, including dTRANS T01 and T100 for temperature, dTRANS p02 DELTA for differential pressure, and dTRANS pH 02 and CR 02 for liquid analysis
  • Wtrans: wireless probes and transmitters, such as Wtrans T for RTD temperature and Wtrans p for pressure
  • digiLine and ecoLine: digital and optical analysis sensors, for example the digiLine O-DO S10 dissolved oxygen sensor and the ecoLine NTU turbidity sensor
  • NESOS: float-based level transmitters and switches
  • RTD temperature probes: screw-in types such as 902030 and mineral-insulated designs

Where JUMO sensors are used

JUMO sensors and transmitters are typical of food and beverage lines, water and wastewater treatment, pharmaceutical utilities, heating and cooling systems, and packaged machinery supplied to the GCC by European builders. Many requests are for a like-for-like replacement of a probe fitted by the machine maker, where length, thread and connector have to match exactly.

Ordering JUMO parts: what we need

JUMO identifies each product group by a six-digit type number, such as 902030, followed by an order code that fixes the options. The label of the delivered item normally carries a part number as well. Send whichever you have, ideally both, or a photo of the label. For JUMO temperature probes add insertion length, diameter, process connection, sensor type and wiring. For JUMO pressure sensors state range, output, process connection and electrical connector. For analysis sensors name the transmitter they connect to and the cable length.
