JUMO mTRON T 705010 Multichannel Controller Module

Description

Four PID loops on one DIN-rail module that keeps controlling when the CPU is down

The JUMO mTRON T multichannel controller module (type 705010) provides up to four cascadable PID controller channels inside the modular mTRON T measuring, control and automation system. The standard version has two universal analog inputs for thermocouples, RTD probes, resistance transmitters, potentiometers and standard signals, two digital inputs and two outputs that are either N/O relays or logic outputs for external solid-state relays. Three option slots add up to four analog inputs, eight digital inputs, three analog outputs or eight digital outputs. The module keeps controlling on its own if the central processing unit or the higher-level system fails, as a configurable behaviour, and is approved as a temperature regulator to DIN EN 14597 for plants that generate or transfer heat (mode of action 1.B). Its module insert pulls out of the case at the front while the bus PCB stays on the DIN rail.

Configuring option slots and approvals

The code is 705010/ extension – version – slot 1 – slot 2 – slot 3 – supply / DNV / DIN / extra, for example 705010/18-000-36/000,000,000. Extension 1 gives two N/O relays and 2 gives two logic outputs. Version 8 is the factory setting. Slots 1 and 2 accept analog input (1), changeover relay (2), two N/O relays with common pole (3), analog output (4), two digital inputs (5), 1 A solid-state relay (6) or two open-collector outputs (7); slot 3 omits the analog input. The supply code is 36 (24 V DC). DNV GL approval needs an approved power supply such as type 705090, and AMS2750 or CQI-9 requires the channels to be specified for the calibration certificate. Expansion boards are also orderable separately: analog input 00569497, changeover relay 00569498, two N/O relays 00569499, analog output 00569500, two digital inputs 00569501, solid-state relay 00569502 and open collector 00569503.

Where the module sits in an mTRON T system

The controller module runs next to a base unit such as the published mTRON T central processing unit, with analog input, relay and I/O modules snapped on the same bus, and is operated from the multifunction panel or the PC setup program. It suits furnaces, ovens, heat-treatment lines, extruders, boilers and process heat skids that need several loops with tight temperature accuracy. Thermocouple types up to 2495 °C and RTD probes mean one module can serve a wide range of sensors. In hot environments check the cabinet temperature rating on the datasheet and keep the module away from heat sources. Browse the PLC and I/O cards category for related modules.

An enquiry should list the number of control loops, the sensor types, and the heating or cooling outputs per loop, including whether relays, logic outputs for solid-state relays or analog outputs are used. Tell us whether the temperature regulator approval to DIN EN 14597 or a DNV GL approval is required, and which base unit and power supply are installed. The extension and slot code can then be decoded for you. Two stock versions are listed on the datasheet, and the option boards can also be ordered separately by part number.

About brand

JUMO is the German maker of temperature sensors, process controllers, pressure transmitters and liquid analysis instruments. Moritz Kurt Juchheim founded it in Fulda in 1948 as M. K. Juchheim KG, making glass thermometers with six employees. The name JUMO comes from the founder's name. It is still a family company headquartered in Fulda, and the parent company has been called JUMO GmbH & Co. KG since 2003.

Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list JUMO RTD and thermocouple probes, thermowells, transmitters, controllers, recorders and water analysis instruments, and supply them to process plants, OEMs, HVAC contractors and water utilities in Oman and the GCC by type number.

Choosing a temperature sensor starts with the range and accuracy. A Pt100 RTD is accurate and stable from about -200 to 600 °C and is the usual choice in process plants. A thermocouple (type K or J, for example) covers much higher temperatures and responds faster but is less accurate. The wiring also matters: a 3-wire or 4-wire Pt100 connection cancels the resistance of the cable, while a 2-wire connection adds an error that grows with cable length. That is why a head-mounted transmitter is often fitted close to the sensor.

Where JUMO products are used

In Oman and the GCC, JUMO sensors and controllers are used in oil and gas and chemical plants, food and beverage production, plastics and metal heat treatment, HVAC and district cooling, water and wastewater treatment, swimming pools and marine applications.

Ordering JUMO products: what we need

Send the JUMO type number and the full order code from the label (for example 902020/10-...). For probes, add the sensor type (Pt100, Pt1000, type K or J), the number of wires, the insertion length and diameter, and the process connection. For controllers, add the input, outputs and supply voltage.
