JUMO mTRON T 705020 4-Channel Analog Input Module

Description

Four isolated universal inputs on a 22.5 mm DIN-rail module

The JUMO mTRON T analog input module 4-channel (type 705020) adds four universal analog inputs to the modular mTRON T measuring, control and automation system. Each input is electrically isolated from the others and accepts thermocouples, RTD temperature probes, resistance transmitters, resistance or potentiometer signals and standard current or voltage signals. A dynamic A/D converter resolves up to 16 bit, and one extra digital input for DC 0/24 V covers a status contact. The digitised values are then available in the system for control, alarming and logging. Three LEDs show supply, module status and the digital input state. The module insert pulls out of the case at the front for service while the case and its bus board stay on the DIN rail, and a replaced insert configures itself automatically.

Measuring circuit monitoring and limit alarms

Each of the four inputs has two independent alarms, a minimum and a maximum, with their own limit values. Alarm type, event text, collective alarm, alarm suppression and alarm delay are configurable. Linearisations for more than 20 common probes are stored in the module, and a customer curve can be entered as up to 45 value pairs or a polynomial. The measuring circuit monitoring reports an out-of-range value for every sensor type. RTD probes, 4 to 20 mA and 2 to 10 V signals and potentiometers also report probe or cable break and short circuit, whereas thermocouples report range and break only. On any fault the digitised value moves to a defined state, which lets the system drop into a safe condition.

Ordering and typical uses

The order code is 705020/ supply / DNV / extra. Supply code 36 means DC 24 V, the DNV GL option is 062 and the AMS2750 or CQI-9 certificate option is extra code 879. The stock version 705020/36/000,000 is part number 00566250. Because the supply is fed through the system bus, the module needs a base unit or a router module beside it, for example the mTRON T central processing unit. For DNV GL installations use an approved power supply such as type 705090. During severe EMC interference the accuracy of the analog inputs may be reduced to ±1 %, so keep sensor cables screened and separate from power wiring.

The module suits plants where several temperatures or process signals must be logged or controlled from one mTRON T station: furnaces and ovens, heat-treatment lines, boilers, extruders, climate rooms and water treatment skids. Because the inputs are isolated, mixed sensor types and grounded thermocouples can share a module without ground loops. Pair it with the multichannel controller module 705010 when loops are needed, or use it alone to feed measured values to a PLC. The setup program or the multifunction panel 840 configures all inputs. Browse the PLC and I/O cards category for related modules.

An enquiry should list the number and type of sensors, the thermocouple or RTD types, the ranges and the wiring (2-wire, 3-wire or 4-wire), plus any standard signals or potentiometers. Tell us the base unit already installed, because the supply is taken from the system bus, and whether DNV GL or AMS2750 certification is required. With a stock version available as 705020/36/000, delivery is simple when no approval is needed.

About brand

JUMO is the German maker of temperature sensors, process controllers, pressure transmitters and liquid analysis instruments. Moritz Kurt Juchheim founded it in Fulda in 1948 as M. K. Juchheim KG, making glass thermometers with six employees. The name JUMO comes from the founder's name. It is still a family company headquartered in Fulda, and the parent company has been called JUMO GmbH & Co. KG since 2003.

Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list JUMO RTD and thermocouple probes, thermowells, transmitters, controllers, recorders and water analysis instruments, and supply them to process plants, OEMs, HVAC contractors and water utilities in Oman and the GCC by type number.

Choosing a temperature sensor starts with the range and accuracy. A Pt100 RTD is accurate and stable from about -200 to 600 °C and is the usual choice in process plants. A thermocouple (type K or J, for example) covers much higher temperatures and responds faster but is less accurate. The wiring also matters: a 3-wire or 4-wire Pt100 connection cancels the resistance of the cable, while a 2-wire connection adds an error that grows with cable length. That is why a head-mounted transmitter is often fitted close to the sensor.

Where JUMO products are used

In Oman and the GCC, JUMO sensors and controllers are used in oil and gas and chemical plants, food and beverage production, plastics and metal heat treatment, HVAC and district cooling, water and wastewater treatment, swimming pools and marine applications.

Ordering JUMO products: what we need

Send the JUMO type number and the full order code from the label (for example 902020/10-...). For probes, add the sensor type (Pt100, Pt1000, type K or J), the number of wires, the insertion length and diameter, and the process connection. For controllers, add the input, outputs and supply voltage.
