JUMO dTRANS p33 Ex-Area Pressure Transmitter
Description
Overview
JUMO dTRANS p33 is a pressure transmitter and level probe engineered specifically for use in explosion-hazardous areas, continuously measuring the pressure of non-aggressive and aggressive gases, vapors, liquids, and dusts using the piezoresistive measuring principle. ATEX-certified per SEV 09 ATEX 0140 X, the JUMO dTRANS p33 is deployed in demanding applications including flour and grain silos, where explosive dust atmospheres make certified equipment essential to safe plant operation.
With engineering support in Muscat, Seven Star LLC supplies the JUMO dTRANS p33 Ex-area pressure transmitter to chemical, oil and gas, and industrial customers across Oman and the wider GCC. Every unit supplied through Seven Star LLC comes with manufacturer documentation and access to local technical support – supporting facility engineers and procurement teams in Muscat, Sohar, and Salalah who specify the JUMO dTRANS p33.
Working Principle
The JUMO dTRANS p33 uses a piezoresistive silicon sensor to detect pressure, producing a load-independent direct current output signal that varies linearly in proportion to the input pressure, per reference conditions established in DIN 16086 and IEC 770/5.3. In its level probe configuration, ambient atmospheric pressure is compensated through a special cable with an integrated pressure equalization hose, so variations in air pressure at the surface are automatically accounted for, and only the true hydrostatic pressure of the liquid column is reflected in the output.
What sets the JUMO dTRANS p33 apart is its dual explosion-protection certification: the transmitter fulfills equipment group II requirements for zone 1 and 2 gas-hazardous areas, with the process connection itself mountable up to zone 0, and for zone 21 and 22 dust-hazardous areas, with the process connection mountable up to zone 20. This dual-zone gas and dust rating makes the dTRANS p33 unusually versatile among Ex-certified pressure instruments, suitable for both petrochemical gas atmospheres and grain/flour dust environments from a single certified device.
Engineering Design of the JUMO dTRANS p33
The JUMO dTRANS p33 is housed in a stainless steel enclosure with a threaded process connection, rated IP65, and features a PE cable for electrical connection. Nominal input ranges span from 0 to 250 mbar gauge pressure up to 0 to 400 bar gauge pressure, with the transmitter withstanding a bursting pressure of 10x full scale (up to a maximum of 2000 bar) and an overload limit of 4x full scale for ranges below 100 bar, or 2x full scale for ranges at or above 100 bar.
Accuracy (linearity) is rated at 0.5%, with zero signal offset held to ≤0.3% MSP, and the transmitter includes reverse-polarity protection to guard against wiring errors during installation. Admissible medium temperature spans -40°C to +200°C, and the standard 4 to 20 mA two-wire output integrates directly with existing loop-powered instrumentation infrastructure. The EC-type examination certificate SEV 09 ATEX 0140 X documents the transmitter’s explosion-protection compliance for procurement and safety documentation purposes.
Key Features
The JUMO dTRANS p33 combines dual gas/dust Ex certification with rugged piezoresistive sensing that makes it a specialized choice for pressure and level measurement in hazardous area installations.
- ATEX certification (SEV 09 ATEX 0140 X) covers both zone 1/2 gas hazards and zone 21/22 dust hazards from a single device.
- The process connection is mountable up to zone 0 (gas) or zone 20 (dust) for the most demanding hazardous area classifications.
- A level probe configuration with integrated pressure equalization hose automatically compensates for atmospheric pressure variation.
- Admissible medium temperature range of -40°C to +200°C supports a wide variety of process conditions.
- High overload resistance (up to 10x full scale bursting pressure) protects the sensor from transient pressure spikes.
- Numerous process connection options provide installation flexibility across different hazardous area equipment.
- Reverse-polarity protection guards against wiring errors during field installation.
- A stainless steel housing with IP65 protection supports demanding industrial and outdoor environments.
Industrial Applications
The JUMO dTRANS p33 is deployed across grain and flour silos, chemical and petrochemical processing, and other facilities with classified gas or dust explosion hazards wherever certified pressure or level measurement is required. Typical duties include silo level measurement in dust-hazardous grain handling facilities, process pressure monitoring in gas-hazardous chemical plants, and general Ex-area instrumentation requiring dual gas/dust certification.
Backed by manufacturer datasheet documentation, Seven Star LLC distributes the JUMO dTRANS p33 to chemical processing facilities, grain handling operations, and oil and gas plants throughout Oman and the GCC. The transmitter is a strong fit for hazardous area instrumentation across the Sohar and Salalah industrial zones, as well as for chemical, petrochemical, and grain storage facilities across Muscat that require dependable, dual-certified Ex-area pressure and level measurement.

About brand
JUMO is the German maker of temperature sensors, process controllers, pressure transmitters and liquid analysis instruments. Moritz Kurt Juchheim founded it in Fulda in 1948 as M. K. Juchheim KG, making glass thermometers with six employees. The name JUMO comes from the founder's name. It is still a family company headquartered in Fulda, and the parent company has been called JUMO GmbH & Co. KG since 2003.
Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list JUMO RTD and thermocouple probes, thermowells, transmitters, controllers, recorders and water analysis instruments, and supply them to process plants, OEMs, HVAC contractors and water utilities in Oman and the GCC by type number.

Choosing a temperature sensor starts with the range and accuracy. A Pt100 RTD is accurate and stable from about -200 to 600 °C and is the usual choice in process plants. A thermocouple (type K or J, for example) covers much higher temperatures and responds faster but is less accurate. The wiring also matters: a 3-wire or 4-wire Pt100 connection cancels the resistance of the cable, while a 2-wire connection adds an error that grows with cable length. That is why a head-mounted transmitter is often fitted close to the sensor.
Where JUMO products are used
In Oman and the GCC, JUMO sensors and controllers are used in oil and gas and chemical plants, food and beverage production, plastics and metal heat treatment, HVAC and district cooling, water and wastewater treatment, swimming pools and marine applications.
