JUMO dTRANS p20 Ex d Flameproof Pressure Transmitter

Description

A flameproof pressure transmitter for zone 1 and zone 0/1 boundaries

The JUMO dTRANS p20 Ex d (type 403026) is a process pressure transmitter in a flameproof cast stainless-steel enclosure for relative or absolute pressure of gases, vapours and liquids. It carries the marking II 1/2G Ex db IIC T6 to T4 Ga/Gb and II 2D Ex tb IIIC T105 °C Db, so it can be installed up to zone 0 with the process connection in the zone 0 boundary wall. The HART 7 output shares a 4 to 20 mA loop, an LCD with bar graph shows pressure, sensor temperature and min/max values, and a rotary knob allows local setup even in the hazardous area, where JUMO notes that the JUMO interface must not be used. The SIL version has been evaluated by exida to IEC 61508 and suits process-level and pressure monitoring up to SIL 2. A non-flameproof Ex ia version is covered by datasheet 403025.

Selecting configuration and options

The code is 403026/ extension – display – operation – input – output – process connection – connection material – filling medium / extra code, for example 403026/0-1-1-514-410-504-20-01/000. Display 1 is the LCD and operation 1 the control knob. Hastelloy (material 82) is limited to the higher ranges and excludes 450, 473, 472, 487, 490, 491, 493 and 513; with that option the filling medium can be 00 (without) only for ranges 508 and 516. Ranges above 25 bar exclude several hygienic connections. The NACE manufacturer declaration (635) is available only with connections 512 and 565 in Hastelloy. The UKEX variant needs extra code 085. Accessories are a USB HART modem (00443447), a PC interface (00456352), a wall or pipe holder (00597711), on-site mechanical pressure calibration including DAkkS (00758363), the setup program (00537577) and a DTM (00738288). Diaphragm seals and valve blocks are listed in datasheets 409706 and 409772 to 409786.

Oil, gas and chemical duty

Flameproof construction makes this model the go-to variant for gas processing, tank farms, compressor skids and solvent areas where an intrinsically safe loop is not available. Diaphragm seals extend it to viscous, crystallising or hot media, and Hastelloy wetted parts help in aggressive chemicals. Plan the thermal class carefully: at 85 °C ambient only T4 applies, and the dust marking limits medium temperature to 100 °C. Cable entries and sealing must follow the installation instructions for Ex d. For other hazardous-area pressure options see the published MIDAS S21 Ex and dTRANS p33, and see the pressure instrumentation category for companions.

For an enquiry in a hazardous area, give the gas group, the zone, the temperature class needed and the medium temperature, because the datasheet ties the T6, T5 and T4 classes to a medium temperature of 70, 85 and 115 °C with matching ambient limits. State the pressure range, the process connection, the wetted material (316Ti, 316L or Hastelloy C-276) and the cable entry. The enclosure is cast stainless steel and weighs about 1.6 kg, so the support should be planned. Extra codes cover UKEX, customer settings, electropolishing, a choke, oil and grease free cleaning and an extended ambient range.

About brand

JUMO is the German maker of temperature sensors, process controllers, pressure transmitters and liquid analysis instruments. Moritz Kurt Juchheim founded it in Fulda in 1948 as M. K. Juchheim KG, making glass thermometers with six employees. The name JUMO comes from the founder's name. It is still a family company headquartered in Fulda, and the parent company has been called JUMO GmbH & Co. KG since 2003.

Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list JUMO RTD and thermocouple probes, thermowells, transmitters, controllers, recorders and water analysis instruments, and supply them to process plants, OEMs, HVAC contractors and water utilities in Oman and the GCC by type number.

Choosing a temperature sensor starts with the range and accuracy. A Pt100 RTD is accurate and stable from about -200 to 600 °C and is the usual choice in process plants. A thermocouple (type K or J, for example) covers much higher temperatures and responds faster but is less accurate. The wiring also matters: a 3-wire or 4-wire Pt100 connection cancels the resistance of the cable, while a 2-wire connection adds an error that grows with cable length. That is why a head-mounted transmitter is often fitted close to the sensor.

Where JUMO products are used

In Oman and the GCC, JUMO sensors and controllers are used in oil and gas and chemical plants, food and beverage production, plastics and metal heat treatment, HVAC and district cooling, water and wastewater treatment, swimming pools and marine applications.

Ordering JUMO products: what we need

Send the JUMO type number and the full order code from the label (for example 902020/10-...). For probes, add the sensor type (Pt100, Pt1000, type K or J), the number of wires, the insertion length and diameter, and the process connection. For controllers, add the input, outputs and supply voltage.
