JUMO P700 Series Precision Temperature Indicating Device

Description

Handheld precision indicating device for Pt100 and thermocouple measurement

The JUMO 902722 series of precision indicating devices (P700, P705, P750 and P755) is a family of universally applicable, process-controlled handheld units for high-accuracy temperature measurement. The manufacturer names quality assurance, production, maintenance and repair, service, air conditioning and environmental technology as the main fields of use.

Each unit has a USB interface that provides an online link to a PC and can also supply the device with power. The measured data can be processed further with the optional Windows software DE-Graph. A large two-line LCD shows the reading, and the unit stores MAX, MIN, HOLD and average values.

The indicating device is part of a temperature measuring chain together with a Pt100 precision RTD probe (basic type 902721), so measured temperatures can be read directly, and the results can be traced to national standards when the probe and device are calibrated.

The calibration function is built in: probe tolerances can be compensated with a one-, two- or three-stage calibration, and the channels can be freely assigned. Two-channel units show both values at the same time together with a differential temperature display, and mains operation is possible in addition to USB power.

Probe, calibration and software

The matching Pt100 precision RTD probe 902721/10 covers -50 to +250 °C and 902721/15 covers -200 to +450 °C. Both use a ceramic measuring insert of class A according to DIN EN 60751, a 3 mm or 4.5 mm stainless steel sheath in 1.4541, a 4-pin Lemosa coupling in four-wire circuit, IP65 and a 1.5 m silicone connection line. Fitting lengths are 200, 300 or 400 mm.

In water at 0.4 m/s the 3 mm probe reaches 50 percent of a step in 1.3 s and 90 percent in 4 s, while the 4.5 mm probe needs 3.5 s and 9 s. Calibration extra codes on the probe are 774 for a standard calibration at 0, 100 and 200 °C and 775 for a service calibration at points you specify.

The data sheet describes the calibration laboratory of the manufacturer, listed as D-K-15129-01-00, and the measuring uncertainties it quotes, for example 5 mK for RTD probes at 0.01 °C. DE-Graph exports tables and graphics, supports DBF and Excel export and can manage probe calibration numbers.

The Pt100 accuracy of the high-resolution versions is +/-0.03 °C from -50 to +199.99 °C and +/-0.05 °C from -200 to -50.01 °C, with 0.05 percent of the measured value for the remaining range. On the standard versions the figure is +/-0.1 °C from -100 to +200 °C, with 0.1 percent of the measured value outside it.

For thermocouples, types K, J, L, N and T are stated at +/-0.2 °C from 0 to 200 °C and +/-0.5 °C up to 1000 °C on the standard versions. Types R and S are stated at +/-1.0 °C plus 0.1 percent of the measured value. Check the stated figures against your required test uncertainty ratio.

Where to use it

Use a precision indicator to verify installed sensors, check furnace and oven temperatures, document HVAC commissioning and compare process probes with a reference. Two-channel versions are useful for differential temperature, such as supply against return, and the channels can be freely assigned.

Choose the 0.01 °C resolution versions when the application needs finer detail, and the 0.1 °C versions for general service work. Note that the data sheet date is 2011, so confirm current ordering details before you commit to a code.

The platinum precision probes are intended to monitor all temperature probes used in industry, building services engineering and quality assurance. A certificate-backed calibration of probe and indicator makes the results traceable, which supports ISO 9000 style measuring equipment monitoring.

The device is made of ABS plastic and is meant for indoor use between 0 and 40 °C. Keep the Lemosa connector clean, and avoid bending the silicone connection line tightly, because the probe line is rated for -30 to +150 °C.

About brand

JUMO is the German maker of temperature sensors, process controllers, pressure transmitters and liquid analysis instruments. Moritz Kurt Juchheim founded it in Fulda in 1948 as M. K. Juchheim KG, making glass thermometers with six employees. The name JUMO comes from the founder's name. It is still a family company headquartered in Fulda, and the parent company has been called JUMO GmbH & Co. KG since 2003.

Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list JUMO RTD and thermocouple probes, thermowells, transmitters, controllers, recorders and water analysis instruments, and supply them to process plants, OEMs, HVAC contractors and water utilities in Oman and the GCC by type number.

Choosing a temperature sensor starts with the range and accuracy. A Pt100 RTD is accurate and stable from about -200 to 600 °C and is the usual choice in process plants. A thermocouple (type K or J, for example) covers much higher temperatures and responds faster but is less accurate. The wiring also matters: a 3-wire or 4-wire Pt100 connection cancels the resistance of the cable, while a 2-wire connection adds an error that grows with cable length. That is why a head-mounted transmitter is often fitted close to the sensor.

Where JUMO products are used

In Oman and the GCC, JUMO sensors and controllers are used in oil and gas and chemical plants, food and beverage production, plastics and metal heat treatment, HVAC and district cooling, water and wastewater treatment, swimming pools and marine applications.

Ordering JUMO products: what we need

Send the JUMO type number and the full order code from the label (for example 902020/10-...). For probes, add the sensor type (Pt100, Pt1000, type K or J), the number of wires, the insertion length and diameter, and the process connection. For controllers, add the input, outputs and supply voltage.

Facts checked against JUMO's company history, October 2026.
