Elcometer 456 coating thickness gauges

The Elcometer 456 measures dry film thickness. The separate version in our listing takes plug-in probes on a cable, so one gauge body can work with different probes. Probe choice follows the substrate: ferrous probes for coatings on steel, non-ferrous probes for coatings on metals such as aluminum, and dual probes for both. Probe scale and shape are chosen to suit the coating thickness and the access to the surface.

Ordering Elcometer gauges and probes: what we need

Send the gauge model letter and part number from the label, the substrate, the expected coating thickness range, the probe type and scale, and any accessories such as reference foils. If a test certificate from the manufacturer is required, say so in the request. Fabrication yards across the GCC usually name the inspection standard as well.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between an integral and a separate Elcometer 456?
An integral gauge has the probe built into the body. A separate gauge, the type in our listing, connects to interchangeable probes by cable, which lets one gauge work on different substrates and in restricted spaces. Probes for the separate gauge are ordered individually.
Which probe do I need for my substrate?
Use a ferrous probe for non-magnetic coatings on steel and iron, a non-ferrous probe for non-conductive coatings on non-ferrous metals, and a dual probe if you work on both. Give the thickness range you expect, because probes are made in different scales.
How do I identify my Elcometer 456 for accessories?
The label on the back of the gauge shows the model, the part number and the serial number, and each probe has its own part number on the connector or cable tag. Send both, because compatibility of probes depends on the gauge version.
Is Seven Star LLC a distributor of Elcometer?
No. Seven Star LLC is an independent industrial supplier based in Muscat. We source Elcometer instruments and probes through commercial channels, check the model or order code against the manufacturer's documentation, and provide the manufacturer's datasheet and the certificates the manufacturer issues with the order, on request.
