Thorlabs instruments listed here

The listed items fall into four groups. Thorlabs power meter consoles: the handheld PM100D, the touchscreen PM400 and the PM100USB interface, all of which read the manufacturer’s photodiode, thermal and pyroelectric sensor heads. Laser diode control: the LDC205C current driver, the TED200C thermoelectric temperature controller, the combined ITC4001 laser diode and TEC controller, and the compact CLD1015 driver and TEC controller with a mount for butterfly-packaged lasers. Motion control: the BPC303 three-channel benchtop piezo controller, the MDT693B three-channel open-loop piezo controller and the KDC101 K-Cube brushed DC servo controller. Detection: the PDA200C photodiode amplifier.

Where Thorlabs equipment is used

Typical users are university physics and engineering departments, fiber-optic and telecom test benches, laser development groups, spectroscopy and sensing laboratories, and production lines that align or test optical assemblies. Buyers in the GCC usually need a specific item number that is named in a setup description or a published method.

Ordering Thorlabs items: what we need

Thorlabs item numbers are exact, so PM100D, PM400 and PM100USB are different products, and a console is normally ordered with a separately numbered sensor. Send the item numbers and quantities. For a power meter, add the wavelength, the power or energy range and the beam size, so the sensor can be checked. For laser diode drivers, give the diode pin configuration, the operating current and the TEC current. For motion controllers, name the actuator or stage to be driven. Mention the mains voltage and plug type you need.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does a Thorlabs PM100D or PM400 come with a sensor?
The console and the sensor are separate items unless you order a bundled kit. The consoles read Thorlabs sensor heads fitted with the manufacturer's sensor connector: photodiode sensors for low power, thermal sensors for higher power and broadband sources, and pyroelectric sensors for pulse energy. Tell us the wavelength, power range and beam diameter to identify the sensor.
What is the difference between the LDC205C, the ITC4001 and the CLD1015?
The LDC205C is a current driver only and is paired with a separate temperature controller such as the TED200C. The ITC4001 combines a laser diode driver for up to 1 A and a TEC controller in one benchtop unit. The CLD1015 is a compact combined controller with a built-in mount for butterfly-packaged lasers. Check current limits against your diode's datasheet.
Which software works with the KDC101 and BPC303 controllers?
Both are operated with the manufacturer's Kinesis software, which is provided by Thorlabs with programming libraries for automated setups. The KDC101 drives the manufacturer's brushed DC servo actuators and stages, and the BPC303 is a three-channel 150 V controller for piezo actuators and stages. Name the actuator or stage in your inquiry so compatibility can be checked.
Do Thorlabs power sensors come with calibration data?
The calibration and identification data of a Thorlabs C-series sensor are stored in a memory chip in the sensor connector, together with the calibration date, so any compatible console reads them automatically. The manufacturer recommends yearly recalibration of the sensors, and your own quality system may set a different interval. On request we provide the documents that the manufacturer issues with the item.
Is Seven Star LLC a distributor of Thorlabs?
No. Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier. We source Thorlabs products through commercial channels for customers who want them handled in a local purchase order, check the item numbers against the manufacturer's documentation, and provide the manufacturer's datasheet with the order on request.
