JUMO tecLine pH Process pH Combination Electrode

Description

A pH electrode series built around the medium, not just the glass

The JUMO tecLine pH (type 201020) is a series of pH combination electrodes in which the measuring electrode and the silver-free reference system share one shaft. JUMO offers it in glass or PEI/PSU plastic shafts, with ceramic, glass-fibre, PTFE ring, annular-gap or perforated diaphragms, and with an optional integrated Pt100 or Pt1000 temperature probe. The same datasheet covers the redox sibling, JUMO tecLine Rd (type 201025), with platinum or gold tips. Every electrode is individually tested, uses FDA-listed physiologically safe materials and lead-free shaft glass, and the reference electrolyte contains no silver ions, which avoids diaphragm blocking by silver sulphide in many industrial liquids.

Matching the glass and diaphragm to the medium

The type code reads 201020/shaft – glass – diaphragm – connection – length /extra codes, for example 201020/51-18-07-22-120/837. The universal UW glass (code 18) covers water, wastewater and low-ion media. HA glass (17) reduces alkaline error above pH 12, C glass (11) survives hydrofluoric acid up to 1000 mg/l, and the high-temperature HT and steam-sterilisable DS glasses serve hot or sterile processes on other series members. A single ceramic diaphragm suits general water engineering, while three diaphragms or the two-chamber DOKA system (838) are chosen where electrode poisons such as sulphides or cyanides are present. For oily wastewater, paints and suspensions the PTFE ring (04) or open annular-gap and perforated diaphragms (10, 11) resist clogging, though the open types are not suitable for very pure or low-ion liquids. The datasheet stresses that the type code is not a free modular system, so uncommon combinations need technical release by JUMO.

Applications, handling and companions

Typical fields include municipal and industrial water and wastewater, neutralisation plants, electroplating, drinking and well water, boiler feed water, paper and drinks production and cooling systems down to -30 °C. The salt-reserve option adds four salt rings to extend life in low-ion water or at high flow, and the datasheet notes that crystallisation on the rings is intended, not a defect. Pair the electrode with a transmitter such as the published dTRANS pH 02 or AQUIS 500 pH, and with a flow, immersion or retractable fitting from the JUMO accessory range. A glass electrode from the same family is also listed as the JUMO pH glass electrode. Browse the liquid analysis sensors category for further probes and fittings.

A good enquiry names the medium, its conductivity, the temperature and pressure at the electrode, and whether the process contains solids, oils or sulphides that would block a ceramic diaphragm. Those answers decide the active glass type, the diaphragm code and whether a salt reserve is wanted. Please also state the fitting length, 120 mm or 225 mm, the connection head, and whether a Pt100 or Pt1000 temperature sensor is built in. The datasheet gives three working days for stock versions and ten working days for production versions, and the stock examples already cover the glass shaft and the PSU shaft with basket.

About brand

JUMO is the German maker of temperature sensors, process controllers, pressure transmitters and liquid analysis instruments. Moritz Kurt Juchheim founded it in Fulda in 1948 as M. K. Juchheim KG, making glass thermometers with six employees. The name JUMO comes from the founder's name. It is still a family company headquartered in Fulda, and the parent company has been called JUMO GmbH & Co. KG since 2003.

Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list JUMO RTD and thermocouple probes, thermowells, transmitters, controllers, recorders and water analysis instruments, and supply them to process plants, OEMs, HVAC contractors and water utilities in Oman and the GCC by type number.

Choosing a temperature sensor starts with the range and accuracy. A Pt100 RTD is accurate and stable from about -200 to 600 °C and is the usual choice in process plants. A thermocouple (type K or J, for example) covers much higher temperatures and responds faster but is less accurate. The wiring also matters: a 3-wire or 4-wire Pt100 connection cancels the resistance of the cable, while a 2-wire connection adds an error that grows with cable length. That is why a head-mounted transmitter is often fitted close to the sensor.

Where JUMO products are used

In Oman and the GCC, JUMO sensors and controllers are used in oil and gas and chemical plants, food and beverage production, plastics and metal heat treatment, HVAC and district cooling, water and wastewater treatment, swimming pools and marine applications.

Ordering JUMO products: what we need

Send the JUMO type number and the full order code from the label (for example 902020/10-...). For probes, add the sensor type (Pt100, Pt1000, type K or J), the number of wires, the insertion length and diameter, and the process connection. For controllers, add the input, outputs and supply voltage.
