ABB CR-P024DC1 Interface Relay 24 V DC 1 c/o 16 A
Description
CR-P024DC1: a slim 16 A relay for 24 V DC control signals
CR-P024DC1 is a CR-P pluggable relay with one changeover (SPDT) contact rated 16 A at 250 V and a 24 V DC coil. It is only 15.5 mm wide on the socket, so many of them fit side by side on a DIN rail, which is why this range is common in PLC output interfaces.
ABB describes the CR-P as a PCB relay in a pluggable format, used for electrical isolation, amplification and signal matching. Its coil consumes only 0.4 to 0.48 W, so a small PLC output can drive it directly.

Contact and coil performance
The single contact carries 16 A resistive at 230 V AC and 24 V DC and has a making current of 30 A with 4000 VA breaking power in AC1. For inductive loads the ABB table gives 1.5 A at 230 V AC (AC15) and 2.5 A at 24 V DC (DC13).
The coil pulls in at 16.8 V and accepts up to 61.2 V at 55 C, which is a wide overvoltage margin, while the typical pick-up time is 7 ms and release 3 ms. Mechanical life is above 30 million operations and electrical life at full 16 A and 250 V is above 70,000.
Isolation and environment
The insulation data is strong for a small relay: 400 V AC rated insulation, 5 kV impulse between coil and contacts and 10 mm clearance and creepage. The degree of protection is IP67, and DC-coil versions operate from -40 to +85 C.
The relay mounts on the CR-PSS standard screw socket (1SVR405650R1000), the CR-PLS logical socket (1SVR405650R0000) or the spring socket CR-PLC (1SVR405650R0200). The CR-PH holder (1SVR405659R0000) and CR-PM marker (1SVR405658R0000) are accessories.

About brand
ABB is the Swiss-Swedish engineering group for electrification and automation: low voltage drives, motors, circuit breakers and motor control, process instruments and analysers, control systems and robots. It was formed on 5 January 1988 by the merger of two older companies. ASEA was founded in Västerås, Sweden, in 1883 by Ludvig Fredholm to make electric lighting and generators. BBC Brown Boveri was founded in Baden near Zurich in 1891 by Charles E. L. Brown and Walter Boveri. ABB Ltd is incorporated in Switzerland, headquartered in Zurich and listed on the SIX Swiss Exchange and Nasdaq Stockholm.

Choosing an ABB drive
ABB's ACS drive codes are easy to read once you know the pattern. In ACS580-01-046A-4, "ACS580" is the drive family, "01" means a wall-mounted single drive, "046A" is the rated output current (about 46 A) and "-4" means a 380–480 V supply. The family is chosen by application: ACS355 for compact machinery, ACS310 for simple pumps and fans, ACS580 as the general-purpose drive, ACQ580 for water and wastewater with pump functions such as pipe fill and dry-run protection, and ACS880 for heavy industrial duty with direct torque control. Size the drive on the motor's full-load current, not only its kW rating, and allow derating for the high ambient temperatures common in Gulf electrical rooms.
Where ABB products are used
In Oman and the GCC, ABB drives and motors run pumps, fans and compressors in water and wastewater plants, district cooling, oil and gas and industry. ABB flowmeters, level instruments and analysers are used in water utilities, power and desalination plants and refineries, and SACE breakers protect switchboards in buildings and plants.
