ABB AF09-30-10-11 Three-Pole Contactor

Description

AF09 motor switching with an AC/DC control coil

The ABB AF09-30-10-11 is a three-pole contactor for motor and power-circuit switching. The exact order code is 1SBL137001R1110. For three-phase motor service at 380–400 V, its AC-3 rating is 9 A and the published motor-power rating is 4 kW at 400 V. It incorporates one normally open auxiliary contact for the associated control circuit.

The -11 coil code is an essential selection detail. Its control supply is 24–60 V AC at 50/60 Hz, or 20–60 V DC. Other AF09 coil codes accept different voltage ranges; the shared AF09 family name does not establish electrical interchangeability.

Selecting the starter and control circuit

The AF contactor uses an electronic coil interface and built-in surge suppression. Select the control supply separately from the switched power circuit. AC-1 and AC-3 values describe different load categories; the 25 A AC-1 figure is not the motor-switching rating.

This -11 execution should not be treated as suitable for direct operation from a PLC output. Check the required control interface against ABB’s instructions. The contactor also needs a suitable motor-protection arrangement; overload protection and short-circuit protection are separate elements of the starter selection.

When replacing a contactor, check the coil voltage, main-contact duty, auxiliary-contact arrangement and compatibility with the connected protection devices. Extra auxiliary blocks, an overload relay or a complete starter assembly should be identified explicitly in the requested equipment list.

About brand
ABB, formed in 1988 and headquartered in Zurich, covers an unusually long stretch of a plant's equipment list, from the flowmeter and analyzer in the field to the drive, breaker and protection relay in the electrical room. Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier serving Oman and the GCC. Our ABB listing concentrates on measurement and analytics: ABB flowmeters, liquid analysis sensors and systems, level and pressure instruments. It also includes valve actuators, low voltage circuit breakers, ABB drives, soft starters and protection relays.

ABB product families on this page

Flow measurement includes ABB electromagnetic, Coriolis, vortex and swirl meters, sold under names such as ProcessMaster, AquaMaster, CoriolisMaster and SwirlMaster. Liquid analysis covers pH, conductivity and dissolved oxygen sensors with their transmitters. SensyTemp TSP sensors handle temperature. On the electrical side the listing has ACS355 machinery drives, the ACS550 general purpose drive, the ACQ580 for water and wastewater and the ACS880-01 industrial drive, with fieldbus adapters such as the FPBA-01 for PROFIBUS DP. Protection and switching products include SACE Tmax XT molded case breakers, SACE Emax 2 air circuit breakers, PSR soft starters and the REM615 and RET615 relays.

Where ABB instruments and drives are used

Water and wastewater plants use the electromagnetic flowmeters, analyzers and ACQ580 drives together. Oil and gas, power and chemical plants specify the Coriolis and vortex meters, pressure and level transmitters and the 615 series relays for motor and transformer feeders. The drives run pumps, fans, conveyors and compressors in almost every industry.

Ordering ABB parts: what we need

For drives send the full type code from the rating label, for example ACS355-03E-05A6-4, plus the serial number if it is a replacement. For instruments send the complete order code, measuring span, process connection, wetted materials, output or protocol and the hazardous area approval. For breakers give frame size, rated current, breaking capacity, number of poles, trip unit and fixed or withdrawable version.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the coil voltage of AF09-30-10-11?
The -11 coil accepts 24–60 V AC at 50/60 Hz or 20–60 V DC. Check the actual control supply against the appropriate AC or DC range.
Is this a 9 A or 25 A contactor?
Its motor-switching AC-3 rating is 9 A at 380–400 V. The 25 A figure is an AC-1 rating under its stated catalog conditions; the two load categories are different.
How many auxiliary contacts are built in?
The AF09-30-10-11 execution has one normally open auxiliary contact. Additional blocks must be specified separately.
Can it be driven directly by a PLC output?
ABB identifies the -11 AF contactor execution as unsuitable for direct PLC-output control. Check the required interface; do not substitute AF09Z specifications.
Does the contactor provide complete motor overload protection?
An appropriate overload relay and short-circuit protection form separate parts of the starter selection. Identify these items and their compatibility when specifying the assembly.
