Honeywell Touchpoint Plus Gas Detection Controller
Description
Touchpoint Plus gas detection controller for small systems
The Honeywell Touchpoint Plus is a wall-mounted gas detection controller with a 7 inch colour touchscreen, designed for small gas detector networks of up to 16 channels. It takes signals from field transmitters, shows channel status in green, yellow and red, drives alarms and relays, logs events to an SD card and can pass data to a higher-level system over Modbus. Seven Star LLC supplies the Touchpoint Plus in Oman and the GCC as an independent supplier in Muscat.
It is a configure-to-order product: the ordering code selects unit type, power, inputs, outputs, relays, communications and battery. Honeywell positions it for plants that want a modular, simply configured controller without the engineering of a large safety system.

How the Touchpoint Plus works
The controller is built from stacked modules: main module, input module, relay output module, mA output module, power supply, display module, touchscreen, backup battery and the Modbus modules. Input modules power the detector loops directly, up to 15 W per channel and 40 W total with a dedicated audio-visual drive, or 68 W without one. Alarm logic supports grouping and voting, so you can require two detectors in a zone before an executive action. Inputs can be inhibited for maintenance, and the controller logs configuration, events and data.
Where the Touchpoint Plus fits with detectors and other controllers
The datasheet lists compatible Honeywell detectors: Searchpoint Optima Plus, Sensepoint XCD, Series 3000 MkII/MkIII, RAEGuard II PID, IAQPoint2, XNX universal transmitter, Searchline Excel, E3Point, EC F9, IR F9 and Signalpoint. Some are simple devices with intrusive configuration, others have non-intrusive local operation, and high-integrity devices can be monitored with external power. Related controllers in the range are the Touchpoint Pro, a modular system with ring network and SIL 2 design, and the Touchpoint Plus Wireless for MeshGuard wireless networks.
Selecting a Touchpoint Plus: checklist
- Number of detectors now and in the future, so you can decide on an expansion unit.
- Signal types: 4-20 mA transmitters, catalytic mV bridge sensors, or both.
- Supply: AC 110/220 V or DC 18 to 32 V, and whether you need backup battery.
- Relays: 12 or 24, and how many you actually need for alarm stages, fans and shutdown.
- Integration: Modbus RTU or TCP for the DCS, or standalone.
- Hazardous area: the controller itself is rated for Class I Div 2 or non-hazardous only, so mount it in a safe area or confirm the zone with us.
Installing and maintaining the Touchpoint Plus
The unit can be surface-mounted directly or on an optional mounting plate for one-person installation. The hinged front opens to a tiered terminal layout, which keeps field wiring tidy. Keep the operating temperature between -10 and +55 °C: in a hot Gulf plant, avoid mounting it in direct sun or in an unventilated cabinet. Check the backup battery, test relays and function-test detectors on your site schedule, and use the SD card log to review alarms and faults.
Typical Touchpoint Plus applications in Oman and the GCC
Small gas detection systems appear across the region: compressor and generator rooms, LPG and fuel storage, battery rooms, wastewater and desalination plant buildings, chemical dosing areas and workshops. The controller’s IP65 housing and the touchscreen with local status make it easy for operators to see a gas alarm at a glance, and the Modbus option links it to the plant control room.

About brand
Honeywell is the American industrial technology group whose products on this site cover gas and flame detection, pressure transmitters, flow measurement, gas metering, fire alarm systems and helicopter rotor balancing equipment. Its roots go back to a thermostat business in Minneapolis in 1885 and to Mark Honeywell's heating company, which merged with it in 1927. Several brands we list have joined Honeywell over the years: Gent fire systems of Leicester (part of Honeywell since 2005), Chadwick-Helmuth (a Honeywell business unit from 2002) and Elster gas metering (acquired around the end of 2015).
Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list Honeywell gas detectors and sensors, transmitters, Elster gas meters and flow computers, Gent fire alarm equipment and Chadwick-Helmuth balancers, and supply them and their spares in Oman and the GCC by part number.

Gas detection uses two basic approaches. Point detectors such as the Sensepoint XCD measure the gas at one location, with a catalytic or infrared sensor for flammable gas and an electrochemical cell for toxic gas such as H2S. Open path detectors such as the Searchline Excel send an infrared beam across an area up to a few hundred metres long and detect a gas cloud anywhere along it. Infrared sensors cannot be poisoned the way catalytic beads can, which matters on sites with silicones or H2S.
Where Honeywell products are used
In Oman and the GCC, Honeywell gas detectors protect wellheads, gas plants, refineries and tank farms. Elster meters and flow computers measure gas at city gate stations and in industry. Gent systems are installed in commercial buildings, hospitals and hotels, and Chadwick-Helmuth balancers are used by helicopter operators.
Ordering Honeywell products: what we need
Send the part number from the label (for example 02104-N-XSSA or SPXCDASMTXF). For gas detectors, add the gas, range, output and certification. For gas meters, add size (DN), flow range and pressure rating. For Gent equipment, add the panel type and loop protocol.
Facts checked against Honeywell press releases and SEC filings, and published histories of Gent and Chadwick-Helmuth, October 2026.

FAQ
Questions about the Honeywell Touchpoint Plus Gas Detection Controller
Answers from our engineering team on installation, compatibility and integration.
01How many detectors can one Touchpoint Plus handle?
A base unit supports up to 8 channels and an expansion unit extends this to 16. Input modules come in 2, 4 or 8 channel versions for mA or mV signals, or as combined mA plus mV modules, so the channel count and signal mix are chosen at order.
02Which detector signals can the Touchpoint Plus accept?
It accepts 2-wire or 3-wire 4-20 mA transmitters and mV bridge signals from catalytic flammable gas sensors (Honeywell models). Supported detectors in the datasheet include Searchpoint Optima Plus, Sensepoint XCD, Series 3000 MkII/MkIII, XNX universal transmitter, Searchline Excel and others.
03What outputs does the Touchpoint Plus provide?
Standard outputs include dedicated powered audio-visual drives, three common alarm outputs, remote reset and inhibit inputs and SD-card datalogging. Options add 12 or 24 relay outputs rated 1.7 A at 30 Vdc/250 Vac and 4 or 8 isolated repeated 4-20 mA outputs.
04Can the Touchpoint Plus connect to a DCS or SCADA?
Yes, through the optional Modbus RTU (RS-485) and Modbus TCP/web interfaces. The communication options are chosen on the ordering code.
05What happens during a power failure?
An optional 22.2 V lithium-ion backup battery of 2600 mAh keeps the system running; the datasheet gives more than 30 minutes for a typical system. The unit can be supplied for AC 110/220 V, 50-60 Hz (manual switching) or DC 18 to 32 V.
