Gent XENS-850 Conventional Manual Call Point Range

Description

Manual alarm interface for conventional fire panels

The Gent XENS-850 belongs to the Honeywell Gent range of conventional manual call points, which give a manual alarm interface to conventional fire alarm control panels. All units are supplied in the standard red colour and are available for semi-flush or surface mounting. Each call point carries a 470 ohm resistor and a normally open contact, and is supplied complete with glass.

Both break glass and resettable operating elements can be used in the standard unit; a yellow strip on the element becomes visible when it has been activated. A hinged transparent cover can be added to protect the element against accidental operation, and a specialist test key inserted into the bottom of the unit lowers the glass and releases the micro-switch, so a full functional test is possible without breaking glass. The datasheet states full compliance with EN54 Part 11.

Selecting the right call point code

Choose the XENS-850 where a flush finish is wanted and the standard glass element suits the site. The XENS-805 surface unit with a resettable element saves replacement glass on sites with frequent testing, while the XENS-829 weatherproof unit is rated IP67 for outdoor or washdown areas. For controlled-access areas the XENS-807 is key operated, and the XENS-801 provides a change over contact for panels or interfaces that need it.

All codes are intended for conventional radial circuits and carry the 470 ohm resistor, so the panel zone must be configured for that end-of-line value. They can be used with the Gent Xenex conventional range and with other conventional panels that accept a 470 ohm alarm resistor.

Status and points to confirm

Honeywell’s UK product page titled Gent manual call point currently shows a Discontinued notice. Treat the XENS range as a legacy line for new designs, confirm availability of each code at quotation, and state the exact code from the call point label when you send an RFQ. For other fire alarm devices see the fire and gas detector category.

Documents and quotation

The datasheet for the conventional manual call points can be downloaded on this page. Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat, and quotations are checked against the manufacturer order codes. Please list the code, mounting type and quantity in your RFQ.

About brand

Vigilon is the analog addressable fire alarm system that has made Gent a familiar name on British-specified buildings. The company's roots go back to 1872 in Leicester, and its panels and loop devices are designed to EN 54. Seven Star LLC supplies Gent fire alarm panels and system parts to contractors and facility teams in Oman, including Vigilon control panels and loop cards for existing sites.

Gent Vigilon panels and parts listed here

Three of the items on this page are panel parts. The Vigilon Compact Plus is the smaller panel for one or two loops. The Vigilon Plus, listed as VIGPLUS-72, is the larger control panel for one to six loops with 72-hour standby capacity. The VIG-LPC-EN loop card adds or replaces a loop circuit in the VIGPLUS-24 and VIGPLUS-72 panels. On the loops, Gent uses its own device families, notably S-Quad devices that combine multi-sensor detection with sounder, voice and visual alarm options.

Ordering Gent fire alarm parts: what we need

Gent systems are configured per site, so details matter. Send the part number from the panel or card label, the panel type and number of loops, the panel firmware version if shown, and the device types on the loop. For a new panel, state loops required, network cards, printer or repeater options and battery size. We supply to projects in the GCC and check each part number against the manufacturer's documentation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which standard does the Gent conventional call point meet?
The datasheet states full compliance with EN54 Part 11.
What resistor value is fitted?
A 470 ohm resistor with a normally open contact, supplied complete with glass.
Is a weatherproof version available?
Yes, XENS-829 is a weatherproof call point rated IP67.
Can the call point be tested without breaking the glass?
Yes, a specialist test key lowers the glass and releases the micro-switch for a functional test.
