Brand: Gent
Gent Xenex 2 to 8 Zone Conventional Fire Alarm Control Panel
Description
Conventional fire alarm panel for small premises, 2 to 8 zones
The Gent Xenex is a conventional fire detection and alarm control panel from Honeywell Gent for small building premises. It is BSI approved to EN54 Parts 2 and 4 and can be used on installations that follow BS 5839 Part 1. Panels are specified with 2, 4 or 8 zones, and each one contains an integral power supply with battery support, so no separate power cabinet is needed.
Devices are wired on conventional radial layouts using standard 2-core cable. The panel drives up to 8 alarm sounder circuits and 2 auxiliary relay contacts, includes a zone disablement facility and offers one-man test and commissioning features, which shortens handover on small sites. The datasheet states that the panel is intended for use with LPCB approved conventional smoke or heat detectors.
Technical specifications
The values below come from the Honeywell Gent Xenex datasheet (GEN144, 03/2017). Order codes are as printed; panels are supplied less batteries.

Choosing the zone count and the field devices
Select the zone count from the building layout: each zone is a radial detector circuit, so a small shop, workshop or office block with two to eight fire zones maps directly to one panel size. The datasheet lists the device families that suit the panel: optical smoke, beam and duct smoke detectors, fixed temperature and rate of rise heat detectors, sounders, strobes and door release units. Sounder options include shallow base, deep base and bedhead types, and xenon flashers can be accommodated.
For harsher locations the datasheet notes IP55 rated manual call points, available surface mounted or flush fitted, and a software-selectable false alarm verification feature that filters out spurious alarms. Common accessories include key-operated and anti-vandal call points, spare glasses in packs of 10 and spare test keys, which let a technician test a call point without breaking the glass.
What to confirm before ordering
Check that the zone circuits and sounder loading stay inside the 3 mA per zone and 500 mA per circuit limits, and that the battery size matches the 72 hour standby requirement of the site design. Confirm the cable type against BS 6387 and the 100 m limit on the class change contact. A conventional panel does not identify the device address, so sites that need point identification should look at an addressable panel such as the Gent Vigilon Compact Plus panel.

About brand
Vigilon is the analog addressable fire alarm system that has made Gent a familiar name on British-specified buildings. The company's roots go back to 1872 in Leicester, and its panels and loop devices are designed to EN 54. Seven Star LLC supplies Gent fire alarm panels and system parts to contractors and facility teams in Oman, including Vigilon control panels and loop cards for existing sites.
Gent Vigilon panels and parts listed here
Three of the items on this page are panel parts. The Vigilon Compact Plus is the smaller panel for one or two loops. The Vigilon Plus, listed as VIGPLUS-72, is the larger control panel for one to six loops with 72-hour standby capacity. The VIG-LPC-EN loop card adds or replaces a loop circuit in the VIGPLUS-24 and VIGPLUS-72 panels. On the loops, Gent uses its own device families, notably S-Quad devices that combine multi-sensor detection with sounder, voice and visual alarm options.
Ordering Gent fire alarm parts: what we need
Gent systems are configured per site, so details matter. Send the part number from the panel or card label, the panel type and number of loops, the panel firmware version if shown, and the device types on the loop. For a new panel, state loops required, network cards, printer or repeater options and battery size. We supply to projects in the GCC and check each part number against the manufacturer's documentation.
