AUMA SAREx 07.6 Explosion-Proof Modulating Actuator
Description
Overview
AUMA SAREx 07.6 is the second SAREx frame, with 30 to 60 Nm tripping torque (S4-25 %) and up to 30 / 15 Nm modulating torque (S4-25 % / S4-50 %) on an F07 / F10 flange.
Seven Star LLC quotes the SAREx 07.6 as trusted AUMA supplier for Oman and the GCC, with documentation suited to ATEX project files. Our Muscat office supports consultants and EPC contractors in Sohar and Salalah. See also the SAREx series overview, the SAEx explosion-proof actuators and the AUMA SDL/SDG variable-speed actuator.
Operating Principle of the AUMA SAREx 07.6
The SAREx 07.6 is built for intermittent duty, S4-25 % and S4-50 % to class C, so it can follow a controller continuously within its starts limit of 1,200 per hour up to 45 rpm. Pulses start from 50 ms, and a reversal needs up to 260 ms at 4 rpm. AMExC or ACExC controls drive the actuator.
Engineering Design of the SAREx 07.6
For the SAREx 07.6, match the controller’s deadband to the 50 ms minimum pulse so the actuator does not hunt around the setpoint. With 30 Nm of modulating torque up to 45 rpm and 20 Nm above, check that the control-valve friction stays below these values, and verify the 22 to 24 kg weight against the valve’s support.
Connection follows the same pattern as the SAREx 07.2: an Ex plug/socket connector (KT), spring-clamp control terminals, IP68 enclosure and an optional 12.5 W heater.
Key Features of the AUMA SAREx 07.6
Data points that matter most when specifying the AUMA SAREx 07.6:
- A torque window of 30–60 Nm (S4-25 %); the S4-50 % ceiling is 40 Nm.
- Maximum modulating torque of 30 / 15 Nm (S4-25 % / S4-50 %).
- Output speeds of 4–90 rpm at 50 Hz, with starts graded by speed band.
- Handwheel diameter 160 mm, approximate weight 22 kg (4–22 rpm), 24 kg (32–90 rpm).
- Motor power of 0.03–0.40 kW at 400 V; pulse timing 50 ms (same direction); on reversal 260 ms at 4 rpm down to 60 ms at 90 rpm.
Selecting the AUMA SAREx 07.6 for Your Valve
The SAREx 07.6 doubles the torque capability of the 07.2 to 60 Nm (S4-25%) while retaining the F07/F10 flange and 160 mm handwheel. Its modulating torque is 30 Nm (S4-25%) and 15 Nm (S4-50%) up to 45 rpm, then 20 Nm and 10 Nm from 63 rpm to 90 rpm. Choose it when a small control valve needs more positioning force than the 07.2 offers, but a move to the F10-only 10.2 would be unnecessary.
Compared with the SAREx 07.2, the SAREx 07.6 doubles the trip ceiling from 30 to 60 Nm and the modulating torque from 15 to 30 Nm at 4 to 45 rpm. The step up to the SAREx 10.2 brings 120 Nm and a 200 mm handwheel.
AUMA SAREx 07.6 Modulating Torque and Starts by Speed
These are the modulating limits of the AUMA SAREx 07.6 by output speed, valid at nominal voltage and +40 °C. Tripping torque is adjustable up to 60 Nm (S4-25 %) or 40 Nm (S4-50 %). Illustrative calculation, not AUMA data: a control valve with 8 turns per stroke needs 86 s at 5.6 rpm, 15 s at 32 rpm and 8 s at 63 rpm for a full stroke.
| Speed, rpm at 50 Hz | Permitted modulating torque (S4-25 / S4-50 %), Nm | Starts per hour, max. |
|---|---|---|
| 4–45 | 30 / 15 | 1,200 |
| 63–90 | 20 / 10 | 900 |
Loop-tuning note: the SAREx 07.6 shares the 50 ms minimum pulse and the 260 to 60 ms reversal-pulse range of the 07.2, but offers higher modulating torque (30 Nm up to 45 rpm). For a loop that updates every few seconds, 11 to 22 rpm (130 to 90 ms on reversal) usually gives enough resolution without using more of the 1,200 starts per hour than necessary. Controllers should avoid reversing direction more often than the process requires.
Worked Sizing Example for the SAREx 07.6 (Illustrative Calculation)
A fuel-gas pressure control valve has a friction torque of 25 Nm. The SAREx 07.6 provides 30 Nm modulating torque at S4-25 % up to 45 rpm, but only 20 Nm at 63 to 90 rpm, so the slower speed bands are required. At 4 to 45 rpm the permitted 1,200 starts per hour support even demanding control loops, while at 63 to 90 rpm the limit is 900. This is an illustrative calculation, not AUMA data.

Industrial Applications
The AUMA SAREx 07.6 suits small to medium control valves in hazardous areas, including separator level control, fuel-gas pressure control and chemical-dosing control. Its 30 Nm modulating torque at S4-25% is sufficient for most small globe-type control valves.
In gathering stations and process skids across the Sultanate, this size is a common step above the 07.2. Seven Star LLC quotes the SAREx 07.6 with local technical support and genuine AUMA documentation for Oman and the GCC.

About brand
Electric actuators for industrial valves are the core of AUMA's business. Founded in 1964 and based in Müllheim, Germany, the company builds multi-turn, part-turn and linear actuators with matching gearboxes and actuator controls, in modular combinations that are fixed at the time of order.
Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier listing AUMA actuators, gearboxes, fail-safe units and the SIMA2 master station for valve automation projects and replacements in Oman and the GCC.
AUMA actuator and gearbox types
SA multi-turn actuators handle open-close duty on gate and globe valves, and SAR is the modulating version; the listing includes the SA 07.2, SA 10.2 and SA 25.1. SAEx and SAREx are the explosion-proof equivalents. Part-turn duty on ball and butterfly valves is covered by SQ and the modulating SQR, or by an SA actuator combined with a GS part-turn gearbox. LE linear thrust units convert multi-turn output to thrust, and GHT multi-turn gearboxes extend the torque range up to 120,000 Nm. PROFOX is the compact actuator line. Special items include the seawater-resistant SGM and SGMR part-turn actuators with bronze housings, the SVC and SVCR globe valve actuators and the FQM fail-safe unit. Integral controls come as AM or AC versions.Where AUMA electric actuators are used
AUMA actuators are found in water, power, oil and gas, marine and general industry. In practice that means isolation and control valves in water treatment and pumping stations, power plant steam and cooling systems, tank farms and pipelines, and sluice gates and dampers.Ordering AUMA actuators and parts: what we need
