AUMA SA 07.6 Multi-Turn Actuator
Description
Overview
AUMA SA 07.6 is an AUMA NORM multi-turn actuator for open-close duty with a tripping-torque window of 20 to 60 Nm and 12 output speeds from 4 to 180 rpm. SA 07.6 is the 20 to 60 Nm member of AUMA’s compact SA frame group. It doubles the tripping torque of the SA 07.2 while keeping the same F07 and F10 valve interface, the same 160 mm handwheel and almost the same weight, which makes it the natural upgrade where a small valve turns out to be stiffer than first estimated.
Seven Star LLC, a trusted supplier of AUMA products for Oman and the GCC, supplies the AUMA SA 07.6 with manufacturer documentation, and its Muscat team checks the valve and stem data before an order is confirmed.
Operating Principle
On the SA 07.6, a counter gear registers the motor turns between the OPEN and CLOSED end positions, and separate torque switches trip for each direction at up to 60 Nm. Short-time duty S2 – 15 min is standard and S2 – 30 min is optional. The handwheel serves setting and emergency use and stays still during electrical operation.
Engineering Design of the AUMA SA 07.6
Because the housing is IP68 as standard under AUMA’s definition (up to 8 m head of water for 96 hours, with up to 10 operations during immersion), the unit tolerates flooded valve pits and washdown. Specifiers should still choose the stem protection tube and, for coastal sites, confirm KS or KX corrosion protection when placing the order.
Key Features
Points to weigh when specifying the AUMA SA 07.6:
- Compact multi-turn actuator for small gate and globe valves.
- Adjustment range: 20 to 60 Nm per direction, a ratio of 3.0 to 1 between lowest and highest setting.
- Under S2 – 30 min duty the limit is 40 Nm, which is 67 percent of the top tripping value.
- Power density works out at roughly 2.9 to 3.0 Nm of maximum torque per kilogram.
- An illustrative stroke of 15 turns takes about 28.1 seconds at 32 rpm.
- In torque class it ranks above the SA 07.2 and below the SA 10.2.
- Dimension drawings and electrical data are covered by separate AUMA sheets.
Selecting the AUMA SA 07.6
The difference between the SA 07.2 and the SA 07.6 is torque class, not footprint. Both are quoted at 19 to 21 kg and both accept F07 or F10 flanges, so the choice is made purely on the valve data: if the seating or packing torque, plus a healthy margin, stays under 30 Nm the smaller unit is enough, and once it climbs between 30 and 60 Nm the AUMA SA 07.6 is the correct selection. Remember that the tripping torque is adjustable only within the published window, so the 20 Nm minimum of this size also means it should not be fitted to a valve that needs just 8 to 10 Nm.
Typical partners are small gate valves, small globe and stop valves, sample and dosing line isolation valves, and small knife-gate or sluice slides with a rising stem. Through an AUMA part-turn gearbox the same drive can also move small ball, plug or butterfly valves where multi-turn input is required.
A common mistake with small multi-turn actuators is to size on seating torque alone. Packing friction on a gate valve that has been idle through a hot Omani summer can exceed its factory figure by a wide margin, and a valve left closed for months may need a noticeably higher breakaway torque than the data sheet suggests. The 20 to 60 Nm window of the AUMA SA 07.6 gives room to set the closing torque switch above the real value without chasing the limit. Ask the valve maker for the torque at maximum differential pressure, then confirm that the stem thread is lubricated, because a dry stem nut adds friction that the torque switch will read as seat load.
Sizing example for the AUMA SA 07.6
Consider an illustrative gate valve that needs 38 Nm to break away from the seat and 22 Nm to run. Adding a 25 percent margin to the breakaway value gives a setpoint of roughly 48 Nm, comfortably inside the 20 to 60 Nm window of the AUMA SA 07.6, whereas the same valve on a SA 07.2 would be tripping at its 30 Nm ceiling. At 22 rpm a 15-turn stroke takes about 41 seconds, and at 63 rpm the same stroke takes 14 seconds, although the 50 Nm and 30 Nm figures quoted for S2-15 min and S2-30 min at 180 rpm show how torque falls away at the fastest ratio. These numbers are an illustrative calculation and not AUMA data.
Installation and Mounting of the AUMA SA 07.6
With a 20 to 21 kg mass the AUMA SA 07.6 can be lifted by two technicians, so installation does not need a crane. The F07 interface suits valves with a 26 mm stem, while the F10 interface takes up to 34 mm; where the stem rises through the actuator the PMMA protection tube limits the stem to 30 mm. Leave clearance behind the 160 mm handwheel and at the switch compartment cover, because both are removed during commissioning, and point the cable entries downward in outdoor installations.
Industrial Applications
In Oman the AUMA SA 07.6 is most often found on desalination and water-treatment skids, where chemical dosing, antiscalant and permeate lines carry many small isolation valves that must be driven from a control room. It is equally at home on district-cooling plant rooms in Muscat towers, on small fuel-gas and utility-water headers at industrial estates such as Sohar and Rusayl, and on lube-oil and seal-water lines in pump stations where a compact, field-serviceable actuator is wanted.

About brand
Electric actuators for industrial valves are the core of AUMA's business. Founded in 1964 and based in Müllheim, Germany, the company builds multi-turn, part-turn and linear actuators with matching gearboxes and actuator controls, in modular combinations that are fixed at the time of order.
Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier listing AUMA actuators, gearboxes, fail-safe units and the SIMA2 master station for valve automation projects and replacements in Oman and the GCC.
AUMA actuator and gearbox types
SA multi-turn actuators handle open-close duty on gate and globe valves, and SAR is the modulating version; the listing includes the SA 07.2, SA 10.2 and SA 25.1. SAEx and SAREx are the explosion-proof equivalents. Part-turn duty on ball and butterfly valves is covered by SQ and the modulating SQR, or by an SA actuator combined with a GS part-turn gearbox. LE linear thrust units convert multi-turn output to thrust, and GHT multi-turn gearboxes extend the torque range up to 120,000 Nm. PROFOX is the compact actuator line. Special items include the seawater-resistant SGM and SGMR part-turn actuators with bronze housings, the SVC and SVCR globe valve actuators and the FQM fail-safe unit. Integral controls come as AM or AC versions.Where AUMA electric actuators are used
AUMA actuators are found in water, power, oil and gas, marine and general industry. In practice that means isolation and control valves in water treatment and pumping stations, power plant steam and cooling systems, tank farms and pipelines, and sluice gates and dampers.Ordering AUMA actuators and parts: what we need
