JUMO mTRON T 705030 12-Channel Digital I/O Module

Description

Twelve configurable digital channels in a 22.5 mm DIN-rail module

The JUMO mTRON T digital input/output module 12-channel (type 705030) gives the modular mTRON T measuring, control and automation system twelve channels that you configure one by one, either as a DC 0/24 V digital input or as a DC 0/24 V digital output rated up to 500 mA. Input states are passed to the system for further processing, and outputs are driven over the system bus. Switching currents are not taken from the module electronics: the load current, up to 6 A in total for 12 outputs at 500 mA, is fed through a separate +24 V and GND terminal at the front. LEDs show supply, module status and the state of every channel, and the module insert pulls out at the front for service while the case and bus board remain on the DIN rail.

Wiring the channels as inputs or outputs

Every channel is wired the same way, and its function follows the configuration in the setup program or on the multifunction panel 840. As an input, apply the DC 0/24 V signal between the channel terminal and GND, which must be connected as the ground reference. A floating contact can instead switch +24 V from the front supply terminal to the channel terminal. As an output, the channel terminal and GND carry the load, up to 500 mA, and the external DC 24 V supply on +24 V and GND is mandatory. The supply is protected by an internal 6.3 A fuse, so it is good practice to distribute loads so the total never exceeds the 6 A limit. The data sheet connection diagram is only a first guide, and the installation instructions govern the actual wiring.

System placement and ordering details

The module sits beside the base unit, which can be the mTRON T central processing unit, and shares power and the system bus through the side connectors. It complements the analog input modules, the relay module, the analog output module and the multichannel controller module in the same family, plus the thyristor power controllers. Typical jobs include reading limit switches, push buttons and pressure or flow switch contacts, and driving contactor coils, indicator lamps, solenoid valves and small relays on furnaces, pump stations, packaging lines and process skids. Module replacement is quick because a new insert configures itself automatically after the swap. Browse the PLC and I/O cards category for related modules.

The type code has three parts: basic type 705030, supply 36 for DC 24 V +25/-20 %, and the DNV GL option, where 000 means without approval and 062 adds DNV GL approval. An order example is 705030/36/000. The delivery contains one module and the installation instructions. Useful accessories listed on the data sheet include the mTRON T system manual in English (00575577), the setup program with program editor and USB cable (00569494) and the USB cable alone (00506252). The same data sheet lists the PCA3000 evaluation software and the CODESYS tools supplied on the mini-DVD.

An enquiry should list the number of inputs and outputs, the loads to be switched with their current, and the external 24 V supply capacity. Add the planned base unit and whether DNV GL approval is required. Because the module electronics and the load circuit are supplied separately, the buyer should size the external supply for the total of the output currents and protect it accordingly.

About brand

JUMO is the German maker of temperature sensors, process controllers, pressure transmitters and liquid analysis instruments. Moritz Kurt Juchheim founded it in Fulda in 1948 as M. K. Juchheim KG, making glass thermometers with six employees. The name JUMO comes from the founder's name. It is still a family company headquartered in Fulda, and the parent company has been called JUMO GmbH & Co. KG since 2003.

Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list JUMO RTD and thermocouple probes, thermowells, transmitters, controllers, recorders and water analysis instruments, and supply them to process plants, OEMs, HVAC contractors and water utilities in Oman and the GCC by type number.

Choosing a temperature sensor starts with the range and accuracy. A Pt100 RTD is accurate and stable from about -200 to 600 °C and is the usual choice in process plants. A thermocouple (type K or J, for example) covers much higher temperatures and responds faster but is less accurate. The wiring also matters: a 3-wire or 4-wire Pt100 connection cancels the resistance of the cable, while a 2-wire connection adds an error that grows with cable length. That is why a head-mounted transmitter is often fitted close to the sensor.

Where JUMO products are used

In Oman and the GCC, JUMO sensors and controllers are used in oil and gas and chemical plants, food and beverage production, plastics and metal heat treatment, HVAC and district cooling, water and wastewater treatment, swimming pools and marine applications.

Ordering JUMO products: what we need

Send the JUMO type number and the full order code from the label (for example 902020/10-...). For probes, add the sensor type (Pt100, Pt1000, type K or J), the number of wires, the insertion length and diameter, and the process connection. For controllers, add the input, outputs and supply voltage.

Can each channel be an input or an output?
Yes, each of the twelve channels is configured individually as a DC 0/24 V input or a DC 0/24 V output.
What current can an output switch?
Up to 500 mA per output, short-circuit proof, with a total of 6 A for the module.
Where does the load current come from?
From an external DC 24 V supply on the front +24 V and GND terminals, not from the module electronics.
What is the order code?
705030/36/000 for DC 24 V supply without DNV GL approval; 062 adds the approval.
Is it hot swappable?
The module insert pulls out at the front and a replacement configures itself automatically.
