JUMO MIDAS S19 R OEM Pressure Transmitter for Railway Applications, Type 401008

Description

A fully welded pressure transmitter qualified for rolling stock

The JUMO MIDAS S19 R (type 401008) is an OEM pressure transmitter designed and qualified for rail vehicles. Its measuring system is fully welded stainless steel without seals, so it can be used in almost all media even under harsh conditions, and its silicon sensor with synthetic-oil pressure transfer resists overload even in the lowest ranges and handles more than 10 million load changes. The datasheet lists compressors, braking systems, climate control, sanitary equipment, hydrodynamic gears, water supply and fire extinguisher systems as applications. The device is tested to railway standards for environment, vibration and shock, and electromagnetic compatibility.

What the railway test report covers

The datasheet reproduces a JUMO environmental test certificate for the S19 R. It lists cold at -50 degC for 2 hours, cyclic damp heat at 25 and 55 degC with 95 % relative humidity, 336 hours of salt mist, dry heat at 100 degC for 6 hours, and an EMC series with burst, conducted and radiated interference, surge and electrostatic discharge, all recorded as passed. Vibration and shock tests to EN 61373 category 1B include a simulated lifetime test and broadband noise, the IP tests cover the valve, round and bayonet connectors, and an accelerated lifetime test and ageing test with 150,000 pressure cycles from 0 to 60 bar are also recorded as passed. The first page of the datasheet names DIN EN 50155, DIN EN 61373, DIN EN 50121-3-2 and DIN EN/TS 45545-2 as the typical railway standards the device is tested against or refers to.

These results describe the type tested by JUMO and are not a substitute for the vehicle builder own qualification, so check any customer-specific requirement against the certificate before ordering.

Ordering and application notes

Pick the range code (455 to 464 for relative, 480 to 485 for compound, 489 to 505 for absolute), the 4 to 20 mA output code 405, a process connection, stainless steel material code 20 and an electrical connection. Electrical options are an M12 x 1 round plug, a VG 95234A-10SL bayonet connector, a plug connector without cable socket and a line socket for cable diameters of 6 to 8 mm. The extra code 950 marks the railway-application version, while 591 adds a choke in the pressure channel, 624 supplies the device oil and grease free and 630 enlarges the pressure channel. Where the medium needs a seal, remember the FPM seal on the G 1/4 DIN 3852 version and confirm media compatibility.

The datasheet names compressors, braking systems, climate control, hydrodynamic gears, sanitary equipment, water supply and fire extinguisher systems. For a general-purpose OEM alternative see the published MIDAS S05 and the pressure instrumentation category. A good enquiry lists the range, relative or absolute reference, medium, temperature extremes, connector style, fixing thread and the railway standard to be met.

About brand

JUMO is the German maker of temperature sensors, process controllers, pressure transmitters and liquid analysis instruments. Moritz Kurt Juchheim founded it in Fulda in 1948 as M. K. Juchheim KG, making glass thermometers with six employees. The name JUMO comes from the founder's name. It is still a family company headquartered in Fulda, and the parent company has been called JUMO GmbH & Co. KG since 2003.

Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list JUMO RTD and thermocouple probes, thermowells, transmitters, controllers, recorders and water analysis instruments, and supply them to process plants, OEMs, HVAC contractors and water utilities in Oman and the GCC by type number.

Choosing a temperature sensor starts with the range and accuracy. A Pt100 RTD is accurate and stable from about -200 to 600 °C and is the usual choice in process plants. A thermocouple (type K or J, for example) covers much higher temperatures and responds faster but is less accurate. The wiring also matters: a 3-wire or 4-wire Pt100 connection cancels the resistance of the cable, while a 2-wire connection adds an error that grows with cable length. That is why a head-mounted transmitter is often fitted close to the sensor.

Where JUMO products are used

In Oman and the GCC, JUMO sensors and controllers are used in oil and gas and chemical plants, food and beverage production, plastics and metal heat treatment, HVAC and district cooling, water and wastewater treatment, swimming pools and marine applications.

Ordering JUMO products: what we need

Send the JUMO type number and the full order code from the label (for example 902020/10-...). For probes, add the sensor type (Pt100, Pt1000, type K or J), the number of wires, the insertion length and diameter, and the process connection. For controllers, add the input, outputs and supply voltage.
