What a brazed plate exchanger is used for

Brazed plate heat exchangers transfer heat between two fluids with very little volume and no gaskets. In the XB line, the 60 plates give a large surface in a block less than 100 mm wide, which suits district-heating substations, domestic hot water preparation, hydronic circuits and chiller or heat-pump condensers and evaporators.

Because it is sealed by brazing, the unit cannot be opened or cleaned by dismantling, so it needs clean water or a filter and the water quality guideline: Danfoss publishes a document on water quality for brazed exchangers with plates of EN 1.4404 stainless steel. Copper brazing limits the media the unit can handle, so check the water composition against that guideline.

Choosing Danfoss products

For solenoid valves, check the operating principle. A direct-operated valve such as EV210B opens even at 0 bar differential pressure. A servo-operated valve such as EV220B needs a minimum differential (typically about 0.3 bar) to open, while an assisted-lift valve such as EV250B works from 0 bar. Coils are ordered separately, so the voltage on the coil (for example 230 V AC or 24 V DC) must match the control circuit. For drives, the VLT family is split by application: FC 51 Micro Drive for small machines, FC 102 HVAC Drive for fans and pumps in buildings, FC 202 AQUA Drive for water, and FC 302 AutomationDrive for demanding industrial duty.
