Danfoss 060G1712 AKS 33 Pressure Transmitter 0-34.5 bar
Description
AKS 33: a 4-20 mA refrigeration pressure transmitter with a 500 psi NPT range
Danfoss 060G1712 is an AKS 33 transmitter that converts pressure to a standard 4 to 20 mA signal. This particular code measures 0 to 34.5 bar (0 to 500 psi) and uses a 1/4-18 NPT male connection, a combination that suits high-side measurement on refrigeration and chiller plant where US-style fittings are common.
According to the data sheet the AKS 32 and AKS 33 are fully digitally compensated, were developed for refrigeration plants, work with all refrigerants including ammonia, and carry a built-in voltage stabiliser so they can run from an unregulated supply. The 4 mA to 20 mA output keeps long cable runs to a controller immune to voltage drop.

Where this range and connection are used
A 0 to 34.5 bar range covers the discharge pressure of R134a and R407C systems and most CO2 sub-critical circuits, while keeping resolution good at lower readings. With a sealed-gauge reference the output is not affected by changes in barometric pressure, which matters for accurate head-pressure control with a variable-speed condenser fan.
The enclosure is IP65 and the connector is the standard EN 175301-803-A plug with a Pg 9 gland, so wiring uses the usual DIN valve-style plug. Danfoss lists a response time of 4 ms maximum, which is fast enough for compressor capacity loops and pump-down logic.
Hazardous-area marking and handling
The store entry shows ATEX Ex ec IIA T4 Gc together with CE, UL recognised and GOST approvals. That marking is for zone 2 (gas) use, not intrinsically safe use, because the page lists the transmitter as not intrinsically safe. Check the data sheet and the nameplate for the exact certificate before installing in a classified area.
Avoid using the sensor above the listed overload value of 800 psi, which is derived here as roughly 55 bar. Confirm the range, the thread type (NPT versus G) and the output signal against the loop drawing before ordering. Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat and can quote 060G1712 on request.
Please treat the values on this page as a summary of the manufacturer data and verify them against the attached document for your application. If anything in your enquiry does not match the page, tell us and we will check it before a quotation is issued for 060G1712.
For repeat purchases of 060G1712, tell us the quantity you expect to use each year and the delivery point in Oman. That helps us to plan the enquiry with the manufacturer channel and to give you a realistic lead time, which we confirm only when we quote.
Selecting an AKS 33 for a refrigeration loop
The most important choice is the pressure range relative to the system. For high-side duty, compare the highest condensing pressure the plant can reach on a hot day, plus any safety-valve setting, with the 0 to 34.5 bar span and the overload limit in the table. For low-side duty, a range this wide gives coarser resolution, so a smaller-range code from the same data sheet may give better control. Next confirm the thread: this code is 1/4-18 NPT, and a plant built with G threads needs a different code number rather than an improvised fitting. Finally, check that the controller input accepts a 4 to 20 mA signal and can supply the loop.
Installation and commissioning
- Mount the transmitter on the top or side of the pipe or header so that oil and liquid refrigerant do not settle in front of the sensing element.
- Avoid locations directly at the compressor discharge where pulsation and vibration are strongest; a short distance downstream normally gives a steadier reading.
- Tighten on the hexagon of the pressure connection with a suitable spanner, never by turning the electrical housing.
- Wire the EN 175301-803-A connector according to the data sheet, and make sure the cable entry is properly tightened to maintain the IP65 rating.
- Leak-test the joint with the rest of the system and compare the reading with a calibrated gauge before closing the loop in automatic.
Hot climate and plant-room conditions
Air-cooled condensers in Oman and the GCC see some of the highest condensing pressures anywhere during summer, which is exactly when an accurate head-pressure signal matters most. Keep the transmitter within the medium and ambient temperature limits stated above, and note the narrower compensated temperature range when the highest accuracy is needed. Rooftop units are exposed to sun, dust and occasional humidity; route the cable with a drip loop so water runs away from the connector, keep the plug fully engaged, and avoid mounting the transmitter where it is exposed to direct sun on hot metal surfaces.
In ammonia plants and other installations with a hazardous-area classification, coordinate with the site’s safety team so the listed Ex marking is checked against the zone and gas group before installation.
Maintenance and information to include in your RFQ
In service, verify the signal periodically against a reference gauge at a known operating point, inspect the connector for corrosion or moisture, and check that the cable is not chafing on vibrating pipework. A drifting or noisy signal is often traced to wiring or connector problems rather than the sensor itself, so inspect those first.
For a quotation, quote the code number 060G1712, the quantity, the refrigerant and plant type, the controller it connects to, and whether any hazardous-area approval is required for the location.

About brand
Danfoss is the Danish engineering group that makes refrigeration and air-conditioning controls, heating components, variable speed drives and mobile hydraulics. Mads Clausen founded it on 1 September 1933 at his parents' farm in Nordborg on the island of Als, after making his first refrigeration expansion valve in 1932. Nordborg is still the group's headquarters, and Danfoss remains controlled by the Clausen family through the Bitten & Mads Clausen Foundation.

Choosing Danfoss products
For solenoid valves, check the operating principle. A direct-operated valve such as EV210B opens even at 0 bar differential pressure. A servo-operated valve such as EV220B needs a minimum differential (typically about 0.3 bar) to open, while an assisted-lift valve such as EV250B works from 0 bar. Coils are ordered separately, so the voltage on the coil (for example 230 V AC or 24 V DC) must match the control circuit. For drives, the VLT family is split by application: FC 51 Micro Drive for small machines, FC 102 HVAC Drive for fans and pumps in buildings, FC 202 AQUA Drive for water, and FC 302 AutomationDrive for demanding industrial duty.
Where Danfoss products are used
In Oman and the GCC, Danfoss drives run pumps, fans and compressors in district cooling plants, water and wastewater stations, desalination and building HVAC. Danfoss pressure switches, transmitters and solenoid valves are built into chillers, refrigeration plants, boilers and hydraulic systems, and AB-QM valves balance chilled-water circuits in large buildings.
