EV210B 8: a direct-operated 1/2 in valve for low-pressure water and brine

Danfoss 032U3615 is an EV210B 8, the compact direct-operated member of the B family. The armature moves the seat itself, so there is no servo diaphragm and no minimum differential pressure: the valve works from 0 bar up to 3 bar. Its 8 mm orifice, Kv of 1 m3/h and G 1/2 brass body make it suited to small flows.

The store lists the application as closed and drain, and the media recommendation as water and brine. The EPDM seal supports -30 to 120 C. It is a normally closed valve that is closed when the coil is de-energised.

When direct operation is the right choice

Choose a direct-operated valve when the line pressure is low or varies close to zero, for example a header tank on a roof, a drip line, a condensate trap discharge or a gravity feed to a vessel. The servo versions in the EV220B range would not open reliably there.

A small orifice limits the flow, so check that 1 m3/h is enough at your allowed pressure drop. The store shows a working pressure of 3 bar, with a test pressure of 16 bar; the working pressure is the figure to design with. At 0.265 kg the valve is light, so the pipe can normally support it.

Installation and ordering

Mount the coil upright when possible and use a strainer, since an 8 mm orifice blocks easily. The coil and plug are separate parts. The installation guide AN20058642255000 gives the pressure tables for the EV210B sizes and the fitting instructions.
