Danfoss 060L310066 KPS 77 Thermostat 20-60 C IP67
Description
KPS 77: an IP67 rigid-sensor thermostat for engines, compressors and plant rooms
The 060L310066 is a Danfoss KPS 77 thermostat. The KPS family is described in its data sheet as pressure and temperature controlled switches with a high level of enclosure, robust and compact construction and resistance to shock and vibration, suitable for monitoring, alarm and control systems in factories, diesel plants, compressors, power stations and on board ships. This code uses a rigid 13 x 63 mm sensor that goes into a pocket and covers 20 to 60 C.
Gold-plated contacts make the switch appropriate for low-current signal circuits such as PLC inputs, where silver contacts could oxidise over time. The IP67 housing with a metal cable gland also permits installation outdoors or in wet areas.

Where a 20 to 60 C KPS 77 fits
Typical set points are jacket-water and lube-oil temperatures on engines, compressor discharge oil, gearbox sump temperature and cooling-water return lines. Danfoss lists the sensor as able to withstand 130 C, which means a temporary overshoot far above the scale will not damage the element. A wide adjustable differential, 3 to 14 K at the lowest setting, allows a protective alarm or a simple fan control without hunting.
Insert the sensor into a thermowell of at least 110 mm in the M 18 x 1.5 connection, add heat-conducting paste and tighten the locking screw. A rigid sensor does not need capillary routing, which keeps the installation compact on a vibrating machine.
Ordering checklist
The approvals printed for this code include ABS, BV, CCS, DNV, GL, LR, NKK and RINA among others, as listed above, but confirm that the specific class certificate you need is covered. Other KPS 77 versions with remote bulbs or silver contacts are separate code numbers, as are the KPS 76 and KPS 79 ranges.
Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. Quote 060L310066 with the quantity and the thermowell you intend to use when you request a price.
A good enquiry for 060L310066 lists the code, the quantity, the site, the required documents and any approval certificates your inspector will ask for. Sending these together, rather than one by one, shortens the exchange and reduces the chance of a mismatch at delivery.
Choosing the set point and differential
The 20 to 60 C scale of this code places most engine, compressor and plant-room set points well inside the range rather than at its ends, which makes adjustment easier and more repeatable. Decide first whether the switch is protecting equipment, raising an alarm or controlling a fan or valve. For an alarm or trip, set the main point at the temperature where action is needed and keep the differential narrow so that the alarm clears soon after the condition is corrected. For on-off control of cooling, a wider differential reduces the number of switching cycles and avoids the hunting mentioned above. Write the agreed set point and differential on the commissioning sheet so that later adjustments can be compared with the original values.
Wiring and commissioning steps
- Check that the code on the label is 060L310066 and that the scale reads 20 to 60 C before installation.
- Decide which side of the SPDT contact is used: one side closes on rising temperature and the other opens, so match it to the fail-safe logic of the alarm or PLC input.
- Keep within the gold-contact signal range for PLC inputs, or within the AC and DC ratings listed above for direct switching, and do not mix the two uses on one switch without checking the data sheet.
- Bring the cable through the Pg 13.5 metal gland and tighten it fully to keep the IP67 rating.
- Verify switching by raising the medium or a test bath temperature through the set point and observing the contact change and reset.
Operation in Gulf plant rooms and outdoor skids
Engine halls, compressor houses and outdoor packages in Oman can run hot, and coastal sites add salt-laden humidity. The ambient range of -40 to 70 C and the IP67 housing suit these locations, but placement still matters: mount the switch body away from exhaust manifolds and hot surfaces, and keep the cable entry facing downwards where possible so that water does not sit on the gland. During routine maintenance, check that the sensor is still firmly seated in its pocket, that the gland is tight, and that the set point has not been changed without a record. Compare the switching point against a calibrated reference thermometer at planned intervals.
What your RFQ should contain
Give the code 060L310066 and the quantity, and describe the medium, the normal operating temperature and the set point you intend to use. State the thermowell length available at the M 18 x 1.5 connection, keeping in mind the minimum pocket length of 110 mm. If a class society or inspector is involved, name the approval that must be shown on the documents, and mention whether the contact will be wired to a PLC input or to a power circuit so the contact choice can be checked.

Because the KPS family is available with many scale ranges and sensor types, a short note on the medium, the set point and the thermowell length helps us match the exact code to the machine you are maintaining.

About brand
From its headquarters in Nordborg, Denmark, where it was founded in 1933, Danfoss makes the drives, valves and sensors found in pump rooms, chiller plants and cold stores. Its blue VLT frequency converters are probably the most familiar of them.
Seven Star LLC lists Danfoss VLT drives, pressure transmitters, refrigeration valves and HVAC control valves, and supplies them to contractors and plant owners in Oman against the exact code number on the label.
Danfoss product families on this page
Among the VLT drives listed, three are each aimed at a different duty: the VLT HVAC Drive FC 102 for fans and building services, the VLT AQUA Drive FC 202 for water and wastewater pumping, and the VLT AutomationDrive FC 302 for general industrial machinery. The LCP 12 control panel with potentiometer (code number 132B0101) is also listed; Danfoss specifies it for the VLT Micro Drive FC 51. In pressure measurement there are the MBS 3000 general purpose transmitter and the MBS 5100. Valves include the AB-QM pressure independent control valve in DN 15 to DN 250, the EVR 25 servo-operated solenoid valve and the ICV pilot-operated valve for industrial refrigeration.
Where Danfoss equipment is used
District cooling and chilled water plants, air handling units, booster and irrigation pump stations, desalination and wastewater works, ammonia and CO2 refrigeration plants, food storage and marine engine rooms are the usual places. Demand in the GCC is driven largely by cooling and water.
Ordering Danfoss parts: what we need
Every Danfoss product has a code number, and drives also carry a long type code string on the label. Send both. For a drive we need the motor power and current, the mains voltage, enclosure rating, any fieldbus or option card and the filter class. For an MBS transmitter give the pressure span, output signal, pressure connection and electrical connection. For valves give the size, connection type, coil voltage where relevant and the refrigerant or medium.
