Pfannenberg DTI 8401P Outdoor Cooling Unit, 2000 W
Description
Outdoor cooling units for harsh climates and -40 °C starts
The Pfannenberg DTI 8401P is a 2000 W outdoor cooling unit for partially recessed mounting in the door or side wall of an enclosure. The DTI 8000P series is built for outdoor enclosures such as telecom, energy and process cabinets: a low ambient package allows operation down to -40 °C with an integrated heater, a Modbus RTU interface eases integration into machine and plant controls, and the refrigerant is the low-GWP R513A.
The three models DTI 8201P, 8301P and 8401P cover 1000 to 2000 W in one family, and larger models up to the DTI 8601P with 3000 W share the same product group.

Standards, communication and installation
The sheet states an ETL listing to the new UL 60335 standard on request, IP 55 protection and F-gas readiness with a low-GWP refrigerant. The Modbus RTU interface allows the unit to report status and receive set points from a PLC. The unit is partially recessed, which reduces the depth that protrudes from the enclosure and keeps the outside profile tidy at the door or side wall. The sheet states that it is designed to operate down to -40 °C with the integrated heater, so it can heat as well as cool an outdoor cabinet.
Selection and what to confirm before ordering
Select on the A35/A50 capacity, not the A35/A35 value, for a hot outdoor site, and keep a reserve for solar gain on the enclosure walls. Confirm the enclosure cut-out size against the dimension table, the 230 V supply, the Modbus requirement, the need for a stainless cover and the required certification. The product sheet and the product page do not print article numbers for this series, so the exact order code is confirmed against the configuration before an offer is issued. Compare with the wall-mounted Rittal Blue e+ wall-mounted cooling units in the site range, and see the Cooling category.
Why outdoor enclosures need active cooling
Electronics in an outdoor cabinet face heat from two directions: the losses of the equipment inside and the heat absorbed by the enclosure walls from the sun and the surrounding air. When the outside air is already hotter than the temperature the electronics can tolerate, simple ventilation cannot bring the inside temperature down, and a closed-loop cooling unit such as the DTI 8401P becomes the practical solution. Because the internal and external air circuits are kept separate, the air inside the enclosure is cooled and recirculated without bringing outside dust and moisture into contact with the equipment. Telecom shelters, energy distribution and metering cabinets, and process control enclosures in remote plant areas are typical installations where this matters, as the equipment inside is often critical and difficult to reach for frequent service.
Estimating the heat load
A reliable selection starts with the total heat the unit must remove. This includes the power losses of drives, power supplies, communication equipment and other devices inside the cabinet, together with the heat that enters through the walls and door from the hot surroundings and from solar radiation. The enclosure size, its colour and whether it stands in full sun or shade all influence this external gain. Comparing the total with the A35/A50 capacity of the DTI 8401P, and allowing the reserve recommended above, helps avoid a unit that runs continuously at its limit during the hottest part of the year. Where the load is lower, the DTI 8201P or DTI 8301P in the same family may be a better match.
Integration and installation practice
The Modbus RTU interface lets a PLC or remote monitoring system read the unit status and adjust set points, which is particularly useful for unmanned telecom and energy sites where a temperature problem should be reported before equipment is affected. The set point should be chosen within the control range with the equipment temperature limits in mind rather than simply left at the factory value. During installation the cut-out must match the dimensions in the table, the mounting surface should be flat and rigid, and the condensate discharge pipe must be routed so that water drains freely away from the enclosure and is not drawn back into the external air circuit. Clear space around the external air inlet and outlet should be kept so warm discharge air is not recirculated into the unit.
Outdoor sites in Oman and the GCC
Outdoor cabinets in Oman and across the GCC combine high summer temperatures, intense sunshine, sand and dust and, near the coast, humid salt-laden air. These conditions make the A35/A50 rating and the ambient temperature limit the key figures to check, and they are the reason a stainless steel cover, available on request, may be considered for coastal installations. Positioning the enclosure so the cooling unit is shaded during the hottest hours, and keeping the external air path free of sand build-up, helps the unit deliver its rated performance.
Documents and quotation
The Pfannenberg DTI 8201P/8301P/8401P product sheet is attached to this page and is the manufacturer’s own document, not a Seven Star summary. It includes the cooling-capacity curves for three inside temperatures.
Give the model, the voltage and the installation site temperature range. Seven Star LLC, an independent supplier in Muscat, quotes the DTI 8201P, DTI 8301P and DTI 8401P against your application data; send the enclosure size, ambient temperature, supply voltage and quantity so the correct variant and article number can be confirmed before an offer is issued.
