The Alfa Laval AlfaNova 27 is a gasket-free, copper-free plate heat exchanger in which stainless steel plates are joined by AlfaFusion filler material, also made of stainless steel. Alfa Laval positions it for duties with high cleanliness demands, aggressive media such as ammonia, or where copper and nickel contamination is unacceptable, and quotes operation up to 550 C (1022 F). The same leaflet covers the AlfaNova 27, the higher-pressure HP 27 and the XP 27, which is aimed at CO2 applications.

Typical duties
Alfa Laval lists HVAC heating and cooling, refrigeration, oil cooling, and industrial or process heating and cooling. The narrow channels give high turbulence and a self-cleaning effect, so clean secondary circuits, chiller and heat-pump loops, hydraulic and lube oil coolers and compact skid-mounted systems are natural fits, while dirty or fibre-bearing media are not. Units are custom-built from standard components: the number of plates, connection type and pressure variant are specified per project.
Selection considerations: confirm that both media are compatible with stainless steel and the stainless filler at the operating temperature, that the fluid is free of particles above 1.2 mm, and that thermal expansion and pressure pulsation on the connected piping are within the leaflet limits. The leaflet notes that the stainless construction avoids copper and nickel release, which suits loops with high cleanliness demands.
