AUMA LE 12.1 Linear Thrust Unit (11.5 kN)
Description
Overview
AUMA LE 12.1 is the smallest of the six AUMA linear thrust unit sizes. It converts the output torque of an AUMA SA 07.2 multi-turn actuator into axial thrust of between 4 and 11.5 kN, so that a globe valve, a control valve or another rising-stem valve can be driven linearly without a part-turn or multi-turn stem arrangement. Five stroke lengths from 50 to 500 mm and weights from 8 to 14 kg make it the lightest and most compact way of automating small linear valves with AUMA equipment.
In Oman and the GCC, Seven Star LLC supplies the AUMA LE 12.1 with SA 07.2 or SAR 07.2 actuators to industrial, water and power customers throughout the Sultanate of Oman and the GCC. We confirm stroke, thrust window and stem thread against the valve data sheet before ordering, so that the linear unit arrives matched to the valve and the actuator.
Working Principle of the AUMA LE 12.1
The AUMA LE 12.1 turns rotation into straight-line force with a self-locking threaded spindle. The SA 07.2 spins the drive nut and the coupling stud passes the push or pull to the valve stem. AUMA’s factor for this size is 2.6 (Nm of torque per kN of thrust at an adhesion factor of 0.15), the standard closing direction extends the stem when the actuator turns clockwise, and a retracting version is optional.
In combination with the SA 07.2 the LE 12.1 provides a minimum thrust of 4 kN and a maximum thrust of 11.5 kN, with exceptional thrust up to 23 kN permissible; with the SAR 07.2 for modulating duty the minimum is 6 kN, the maximum is 11.5 kN and the thrust for modulating torque is 5.8 kN. At actuator speeds from 4 to 32 rpm the stem speed ranges from 20 to 160 mm/min, and a 45 rpm actuator, which is the maximum permissible speed, gives 225 mm/min.
Engineering Design of the AUMA LE 12.1
The valve attachment is a flange according to DIN 3358 as standard, with a base without valve mounting flange and a spring-loaded version as options. Input mounting of the SA 07.2 uses the F07 or F10 flange, and the valve stem thread is 26 x 5 left-hand. Weights are 8 kg for the 50 mm stroke, 9 kg for 100 mm, 10 kg for 200 mm, 13 kg for 400 mm and 14 kg for 500 mm, excluding the actuator and the base.
Housing protection is IP67 with a KS finish, and the temperature window is -25 to +80 degrees Celsius with hot and cold variants on request. The duty rating is S2 for 15 minutes, and AUMA advises that full load applies only briefly while the valve opens or closes.
Stroke and Weight Options of the AUMA LE 12.1
The AUMA LE 12.1 is available in the following stroke lengths, which AUMA lists with their approximate weights.
| Maximum stroke | Approximate weight |
|---|---|
| 50 mm | 8 kg |
| 100 mm | 9 kg |
| 200 mm | 10 kg |
| 400 mm | 13 kg |
| 500 mm | 14 kg (45 rpm maximum) |
Higher strokes are available on request, and the weight excludes the multi-turn actuator and the base.

Industrial Applications
Small globe valves on steam, condensate and chilled-water lines, linear control valves on process skids and slide valves in dosing systems are typical applications of the AUMA LE 12.1. The 4 to 11.5 kN thrust window suits light linear valves, and the long stroke options up to 500 mm suit sliding-stem valves in industrial and building-services plants around Muscat and Sohar, where a pneumatic actuator is not preferred.
In Oman and the GCC, Seven Star LLC supplies the LE 12.1 with SA 07.2 and SAR 07.2 actuators to contractors and plant operators across Oman and the GCC, including the Salalah economic zone. Engineers can review the AUMA LE linear thrust unit family page, the AUMA SA 07.2 multi-turn actuator that drives it and the AUMA SAR 14.1 modulating actuator.

Technical Specifications
Principal data for the AUMA LE 12.1 follow, taken from the LE 12.1 to LE 200.1 open-close sheet.
| Parameter | Specification |
|---|---|
| Model | AUMA LE 12.1 |
| Unit type | Linear thrust unit for multi-turn actuators |
| Suitable actuator | SA 07.2 (open-close); SAR 07.2 (modulating) |
| Stroke options | 50, 100, 200, 400, 500 mm |
| Thrust min. / max. | 4 kN / 11.5 kN (SAR: 6 kN / 11.5 kN) |
| Max. permissible thrust | 23 kN |
| Valve attachment | F07 / F10; flange to DIN 3358 |
| Valve stem thread | 26 x 5 left-hand |
| Conversion factor | 2.6 (T = F x factor) |
| Stem speed | 20 to 225 mm/min (4 to 45 rpm) |
| Weight | 8 to 14 kg depending on stroke |
| Type of duty | S2 – 15 min |
| Enclosure / ambient | IP67 / -25 °C to +80 °C |
Because T = F x 2.6, thrust of 4 to 11.5 kN corresponds to roughly 10 to 30 Nm at the SA 07.2, and strokes above 500 mm are available on request.
Choosing Stem Speed and Thrust Settings for the AUMA LE 12.1
Because the AUMA LE 12.1 is a spindle drive, stem speed follows directly from the speed of the SA 07.2: 4 rpm gives 20 mm/min, 5.6 rpm gives 28, 8 rpm gives 40, 11 rpm gives 55, 16 rpm gives 80, 22 rpm gives 110, 32 rpm gives 160 and the 45 rpm limit gives 225 mm/min. A 100 mm stroke therefore takes five minutes at the slowest speed and about 38 seconds at 160 mm/min, while the longest 500 mm stroke needs roughly two minutes even at 225 mm/min. Specifying the right speed is the first design decision for the AUMA LE 12.1, because slower ratios allow gentler seating and faster ratios shorten emergency closing times. The second decision is the thrust setting: AUMA states a tolerance of plus or minus 20 percent on thrust for the minimum and maximum torque switch settings, so the 4 kN lower limit and the 11.5 kN upper limit should be treated as a band, not as exact values, when you check valve seating loads.

About brand
Electric actuators for industrial valves are the core of AUMA's business. Founded in 1964 and based in Müllheim, Germany, the company builds multi-turn, part-turn and linear actuators with matching gearboxes and actuator controls, in modular combinations that are fixed at the time of order.
Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier listing AUMA actuators, gearboxes, fail-safe units and the SIMA2 master station for valve automation projects and replacements in Oman and the GCC.
AUMA actuator and gearbox types
SA multi-turn actuators handle open-close duty on gate and globe valves, and SAR is the modulating version; the listing includes the SA 07.2, SA 10.2 and SA 25.1. SAEx and SAREx are the explosion-proof equivalents. Part-turn duty on ball and butterfly valves is covered by SQ and the modulating SQR, or by an SA actuator combined with a GS part-turn gearbox. LE linear thrust units convert multi-turn output to thrust, and GHT multi-turn gearboxes extend the torque range up to 120,000 Nm. PROFOX is the compact actuator line. Special items include the seawater-resistant SGM and SGMR part-turn actuators with bronze housings, the SVC and SVCR globe valve actuators and the FQM fail-safe unit. Integral controls come as AM or AC versions.Where AUMA electric actuators are used
