Operating Principle

Fluid rising through the tapered borosilicate glass tube lifts a float until the annular gap between the float and the tube wall reaches equilibrium with the flow rate, giving a direct visual reading off the etched or attached scale without any electronic components required for local indication. Four scale types are available: a directly readable scale in flow units, a linearized percentage scale standard on 1/2 to 2 inch sizes, a DK/DS scale with corresponding flow-rate conversion tables, and a plain millimeter scale for applications where the customer applies their own conversion.

Because the float position is a direct mechanical response to flow, the reading remains valid during power loss and requires no transmitter for basic local monitoring, though electronic and mechanical output options are available where remote indication or alarming is also needed.
