Tecfluid Series 2000 Variable Area Flowmeter

Description

Overview

The Tecfluid Series 2000 Variable Area Flowmeter is a compact, short-mounting-length instrument purpose-built for low flow rate measurement of gas and liquid in control panel installations. Operating on the variable area principle, a float moves within a tapered borosilicate glass tube to indicate flow rate directly on a calibrated scale, offering a simple, reliable, power-free measurement solution for applications ranging from pilot plants to industrial refrigeration systems.

Seven Star LLC supplies the Tecfluid Series 2000 as an authorized partner to control panel builders, water treatment facilities, and process industries across Oman and the GCC. Every flowmeter shipped through Seven Star LLC is genuine Tecfluid equipment, backed by full manufacturer warranty and local technical support for installations in Muscat, Sohar, and Salalah.

Measurement and Operating Principle

The Series 2000 operates on the classic variable area measurement principle: as fluid flows upward through the tapered borosilicate glass tube, a float rises to a position where the annular gap between the float and tube wall creates a pressure differential balanced by the float’s weight, with the float position directly indicating flow rate on a calibrated scale marked in l/h, l/min, percent, or other engineering units. Vertical mounting with upward flow and rear connections allows compact installation directly onto control panels without requiring straight pipe runs before or after the flowmeter.

An integrated needle valve provides accurate manual flow regulation as standard, with a valve-free version available for applications where flow is regulated elsewhere in the system. Optional adjustable limit switches – optical detector, inductive sensor, or reed switch – enable the Series 2000 to provide both visual indication and electrical alarm or control signals from the same compact body.

Engineering Design of the Tecfluid Series 2000

The Series 2000 family spans four model variants to match application accuracy and connection requirements: the 2100 model offers ±3.5% full-scale accuracy with 1/4in BSP or NPT connections, the 2150 model improves to ±3% full-scale accuracy on the same connection size, and the higher-precision 2300 and 2340 models achieve ±1.6% full-scale accuracy, with the 2340 offering larger 1/2in or 3/4in male BSP or NPT connections for higher flow capacity applications.

Wetted parts are constructed from EN 1.4404 (AISI 316L) stainless steel for corrosion resistance, with the float available in 316L stainless steel, glass, plastic, or ceramic depending on the process fluid and required response characteristics. Measuring ranges span from 0.1 l/h to 1000 l/h for water and 1 Nl/h to 30 Nm3/h for air, covering the low-flow measurement needs typical of pilot plants, gas burner control, and osmosis water purification systems. ATEX-certified variants are available for hazardous-area installations.
