KROHNE

KROHNE is the German flow and level measurement company founded in Duisburg in 1921 as Ludwig Krohne & Sohn. Its first customers were Ruhr steel producers, for whom it built variable area flowmeters. KROHNE dates the first electromagnetic flowmeter for industrial process measurement to 1952. It is still family-owned and headquartered in Duisburg. Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list KROHNE electromagnetic, Coriolis, ultrasonic and variable area flowmeters, radar level transmitters and flow computers, and supply them to water utilities, oil and gas and process plants in Oman and the GCC by order code.

The flowmeter principle follows the medium. Electromagnetic meters need a conductive liquid, have no moving parts and no pressure loss, and suit water and slurries. Coriolis meters measure mass flow and density directly, so they work for hydrocarbons and non-conductive liquids. Ultrasonic meters handle gas and large pipes, and multi-path designs such as the ALTOSONIC V12 are used for custody transfer. Variable area meters need no power at all and give a simple local reading.

Where KROHNE instruments are used

In Oman and the GCC, KROHNE flowmeters and level transmitters are used in water transmission and distribution, desalination, wastewater, oil and gas production and fiscal metering, refineries, petrochemical and chemical plants, and power stations.

Ordering KROHNE instruments: what we need

Send the complete KROHNE order code or the nameplate data. For a new meter, send the medium, the flow range, pressure and temperature, the pipe size and flange rating, the liner and electrode materials (for electromagnetic meters), the output and communication, and the hazardous area classification.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I read a KROHNE flowmeter name such as OPTIFLUX 4300 or OPTIMASS 6400?
The name joins a sensor family and a converter generation. OPTIFLUX 4300 is the OPTIFLUX 4000 flow sensor with the IFC 300 signal converter, and OPTIMASS 6400 is the OPTIMASS 6000 sensor with the MFC 400 converter. When you need a spare, state which you need (sensor, converter or complete meter), and send the nameplate data of both parts.
Which KROHNE meter suits hydrocarbons that an electromagnetic flowmeter cannot measure?
Electromagnetic meters such as OPTIFLUX need a conductive liquid, so they are used on water-based media. For oils, fuels, solvents and gases KROHNE offers OPTISONIC ultrasonic and OPTIMASS Coriolis flowmeters, and H250 variable area meters for small lines. Send the fluid, viscosity, flow range and line size and we will match the request to the manufacturer's selection data.
What documents does KROHNE issue for custody transfer meters like the ALTOSONIC V12?
For fiscal gas metering KROHNE supplies a factory calibration report and, when ordered, a flow calibration at an accredited facility, together with the type approval documents that apply to the chosen version. Hazardous area certificates and material certificates are separate options. State the metrology standard and the certificates your project specification asks for in the inquiry, because they are fixed at order stage.
Is Seven Star LLC a distributor of KROHNE?
No. Seven Star LLC is an independent industrial supplier in Muscat and is not an authorized distributor or agent of KROHNE. We source KROHNE instruments through commercial channels, check the type code against the manufacturer's documentation, and provide the KROHNE datasheet and the certificates issued by the manufacturer with the order when you request them.
What should I send to get a quotation for a KROHNE flowmeter or level transmitter?
A nameplate photo with type code and serial number is the simplest basis for a like-for-like replacement. For a new point, send the fluid, operating pressure and temperature, flow or level range, line size or tank height, process connection, wetted materials, power supply, output signal and the hazardous area classification. For OPTIFLEX guided radar also give the probe type and length.
