Miller Millermatic 355 Pulsed MIG Welder Package

Description

Overview

The Miller Millermatic 355 is a MIG power source, wire feeder and gun package in one cabinet, designed around three ideas that Miller summarises as easy to use, versatility and mobility. It welds steel, stainless steel and aluminium from 22 gauge to 1/2 inch using MIG, pulsed MIG and flux-cored processes, and it runs on single-phase or three-phase input power. With a rated output of 310 A at 29.5 V at 60% duty cycle and a machine weight of 45 kg, the Miller Millermatic 355 brings industrial pulse capability to workshops that need to move the welder between bays or onto a truck.

Seven Star LLC supplies the Miller Millermatic 355 to general fabrication shops, maintenance and repair teams, and contractors across Oman and the GCC. Whether the job is a stainless food-processing skid in Rusayl, aluminium boat repairs in Muscat or steel handrails on a plant shutdown in Sohar, we help customers configure the right gun, running gear and consumables.

Operating Principle

As general welding background, MIG welding feeds a solid or cored wire electrode continuously through the gun while a constant-voltage power source maintains the arc and a shielding gas protects the molten pool. Conventional short-circuit transfer is cool and good for gaps and thin sheet, while spray transfer is hotter and suits thicker metal. Pulsed MIG switches the current between a high peak and a low background many times per second, so that droplets transfer in a controlled spray-like mode at a lower average heat input.

Miller highlights that pulsed MIG on the Miller Millermatic 355 gives lower heat input for less distortion on thin material, better puddle control on out-of-position welds, and less spatter, which reduces post-weld grinding and rework. The spec sheet process chart rates pulsed MIG as the best fit for aluminium MIG welding, thin metals and low heat input, while standard spray remains strongest on thick sections. Auto-Set Elite builds on this by setting parameters from the wire type, gas, wire diameter and material thickness selected on screen, with fine-tuning still possible.

Engineering Design of the Miller Millermatic 355

The Miller Millermatic 355 is controlled through a 7-inch colour LCD with backlit Auto-Set and Pulse buttons, soft keys whose function changes with the screen, large text and intuitive connection setup images. Instead of error codes, the display shows full troubleshooting descriptions. Program mode saves and recalls favourite settings, and trigger program select lets the welder change program by tapping the gun trigger instead of walking back to the machine. A heavy-duty aluminium four-drive-roll system feeds wire at 50–800 ipm.

The package ships with a Bernard BTB 300 A MIG gun using the AccuLock S consumable system, whose dual-locked, front-loading liner aligns with the contact tip and power pin for a consistent wire path. The cabinet measures about 489 mm high, 349 mm wide and 667 mm deep. Optional EZ-Latch running gear in single- or dual-cylinder versions latches the machine in place but releases it quickly, so operators no longer need to lift the machine and running gear together into a truck; the dual-cylinder model adds an elevated gun and cable rack.

Input voltage on the Miller Millermatic 355 is selected manually with a switch located inside the wire drive compartment, and the display shows an error message if the wrong input voltage is connected, which protects the unit when it is moved between workshops with different supplies. The cylinder racks use bottle-forward geometry for stability on inclines, and the running gear includes built-in storage for accessories. For training, an optional demo cable kit powers the display through USB so that supervisors can teach setup in a quiet room rather than on the noisy shop floor.

Key Features

The Miller Millermatic 355 combines the following features from the manufacturer spec sheet:

  • MIG, pulsed MIG and flux-cored capability welds steel, stainless and aluminium from 22 gauge to 1/2 inch.
  • Single- or three-phase input from 208 to 575 V lets one machine work across different workshops and sites.
  • A 7-inch colour LCD with soft keys and on-screen troubleshooting reduces setup time.
  • Auto-Set Elite presets MIG and pulsed MIG parameters from wire, gas, diameter and thickness selections.
  • Auto-Gun Detect switches automatically between MIG, push-pull and spool guns.
  • Trigger program select changes saved programs from the gun trigger.
  • The Bernard BTB 300 A gun with AccuLock S consumables installs contact tips with a single turn.
  • The machine is generator compatible at full output on generators of 19 kW or more, and the power source has a three-year warranty.

Industrial Applications

Miller targets the Miller Millermatic 355 at general manufacturing, general fabrication, and maintenance and repair. In Oman this covers light structural fabrication, stainless process piping supports and frames, HVAC and ducting work, trailer and truck body repair, and aluminium fabrication for marine and transport applications. Because the same unit welds aluminium with a push-pull gun and stainless with pulsed MIG, a single Millermatic 355 can replace two or three older machines in a mixed-material workshop.

Maintenance departments that choose the Miller Millermatic 355 at desalination plants, power stations and process facilities in Sur, Sohar and Salalah also value the single-phase capability, which lets the machine run where only single-phase outlets are available. Seven Star LLC supplies the Millermatic 355 alongside industrial systems such as the Lincoln Electric Power Wave S500 and portable multi-process units like the ESAB Rebel EMP 285ic, so buyers can compare options in one quotation. Frequently Asked Questions

What materials and thicknesses can the Miller Millermatic 355 weld?
Miller states that the Miller Millermatic 355 MIG and pulsed-MIG welds mild steel, aluminium and stainless steel in thicknesses from 22 gauge up to 1/2 inch. Supported wires include steel, stainless, aluminium, flux-cored, metal-cored and silicon bronze in the diameter ranges listed in the spec sheet.
Does the Millermatic 355 run on single-phase power?
Yes. It operates on three-phase 208/240/460/575 V or on single-phase power. On three-phase and on single-phase 460/575 V the range is 20–400 A, while on single-phase 208/240 V it is 20–350 A. In all cases the rated output is 310 A at 29.5 V at 60% duty cycle. A manual input voltage selection switch is located in the wire drive compartment.
Can I weld aluminium with a push-pull gun on the Millermatic 355?
The machine is compatible with push-pull guns such as the Miller XR-Aluma-Pro, which allows 12-inch aluminium wire spools instead of the 4-inch spools used on a spool gun. Auto-Gun Detect automatically adjusts voltage, wire speed and timers when you switch between the MIG gun, push-pull gun and spool gun.
Can the Millermatic 355 be powered by a generator?
According to Miller, the Millermatic 355 provides full output when powered by generators with 19,000 W (19 kW) output or higher. Limited output will occur on smaller generators. This is useful for remote maintenance work where grid power is not available.
Where can I buy the Miller Millermatic 355 in Oman?
Seven Star LLC supplies the Miller Millermatic 355, its running gear and compatible guns to workshops and contractors in Oman and the GCC. Send us an RFQ with your input voltage and package requirements and we will provide a quotation with confirmed lead time and engineering support from Muscat.
