Kemppi Master M 355 GM Compact Pulse MIG/MAG Welding Machine

Description

A compact 350 A pulse MIG/MAG machine that runs on multi-voltage supplies

The Kemppi Master M 355 GM (item code MSM355GM) is the multi-voltage version of Kemppi’s mid-range Master M compact MIG/MAG welder, designed and manufactured in Finland. Kemppi gives it manual, synergic (Auto), pulse (Auto Pulse) and double pulse welding, plus DC TIG and MMA, and 350 A at 40% duty cycle on a three-phase 380 to 460 V supply. The GM version also accepts 220 to 230 V, and the welder is described as suitable for generator use. The 27 kg housing is injection-molded reinforced plastic intended to absorb knocks, with a self-charging LED work light system that works with or without mains power.

Set-up tools and options

Weld Assist is Kemppi’s guidance tool: the welder selects joint type, welding position and material thickness, and the machine proposes parameters; Kemppi says this is up to 60% faster than setting parameters manually. The machine includes the WiseFusion arc performance process and work pack welding programs for Fe, Ss, Al, CuSi, CuAl, Fe metal, Fe rutile and FC-CrNiMo materials. The optional Master M cooler (1.0 kW at 1 l/min, 3 l tank, 14.9 kg) supports an integrated liquid-cooled package, and carts, a SuperSnake kit and filter kits are listed in the brochure.

Documents and quotation

The official Kemppi product page linked in the Datasheet & Documentation section below lists the full technical data for the Master M 355 GM. For a quotation, state the G or GM version, the supply voltage, gun and cooling, wire diameter and any cart or cooler.

How the Kemppi Master M 355 GM works

The Master M 355 GM combines an inverter power source and a 4-roll wire feeder in one compact housing. In synergic (Auto) mode the welder chooses the material and wire program and sets one main parameter, and the machine matches voltage to wire feed speed. In Auto Pulse mode the arc alternates between a peak current that detaches a droplet and a lower background current, giving controlled, low-spatter transfer with less heat input, which is helpful on stainless steel, aluminium and thin plate. Double pulse adds a slower modulation for better weld pool control and a regular bead ripple.

The GM suffix indicates the multi-voltage model: it can be connected to a three-phase 380 to 460 V supply or a three-phase 220 to 230 V supply, with slightly reduced output on the lower voltage. Kemppi also lists it for generator use, with a recommended minimum generator power of 20 kVA.

Key points per Kemppi

  • 350 A at 40% duty cycle at +40 °C on 380-460 V
  • Manual, Auto, Auto Pulse and double pulse MIG/MAG plus DC TIG and MMA
  • Weld Assist parameter guidance and WiseFusion arc process
  • Color LCD display with two control knobs and push buttons
  • Built-in LED work lights with rechargeable batteries
  • Euro gun connection, 0.5 to 25 m/min wire feed, spools up to 20 kg

Master M 355 GM selection guide

Choose the GM version when the machine may be used on different three-phase supplies or on generators; the G version (MSM355G) is the choice when only 380 to 460 V will be used. Choose the 355 over the 353 when pulse and double pulse are needed, and look at the 358 when a full-color TFT display and integrated digital connectivity matter. For water-cooled guns, add the Master M cooler to create an integrated liquid-cooled package.

  • Workshop steel fabrication: Auto mode with 1.0 or 1.2 mm solid or cored wire.
  • Stainless and aluminium sheet: Auto Pulse or double pulse with the correct work pack program.
  • Site and maintenance work: GM multi-voltage with a generator of at least 20 kVA.

Installation and maintenance

Connect to a correctly fused supply: Kemppi lists a 16 A fuse for 380-460 V and 32 A for the 220-230 V range, with an H07RN-F mains cable. Keep the cooling air path clear, clean the wire feed mechanism and drive rolls regularly, and replace contact tips and liners as they wear. The shielding gas pressure must not exceed 0.5 MPa at the machine inlet. Follow the Kemppi operating manual for installation, safety and maintenance.

Applications in Oman and the GCC

Across Oman and the GCC, the Master M 355 GM suits steel fabrication shops, maintenance teams, contractors and training centres that need pulse MIG in a compact, portable machine. Multi-voltage and generator capability make it practical on construction and industrial sites where power quality varies. Keep the machine shaded and well ventilated during outdoor use in hot conditions to stay within its rated operating temperature.

About brand

From Lahti, Finland, Kemppi has been building arc welding equipment since 1949. The current program runs from portable stick welders to industrial MIG/MAG and TIG power sources, supported by welding helmets and the WeldEye welding management software.

Seven Star LLC lists Kemppi MIG/MAG, TIG and stick welding machines and supplies them to fabrication shops and site contractors in Oman.

Kemppi machine families listed here

Kemppi names its machines by family and current rating, which makes selection fairly direct:

  • Kempact 323A and Master M 323: compact MIG/MAG machines
  • X3 FastMig: industrial MIG/MAG system
  • Master S 500 and Minarc Evo 180: stick (MMA) welders
  • Master T 355 ACDC: AC/DC TIG machine

Kemppi sells several versions under one family name: the Master T series, for example, includes both 355 DC and 355 ACDC machines, so the full designation matters.

Where Kemppi welding machines are used

Portable units such as the Minarc Evo 180 suit maintenance and site work. The Master S stick machines are aimed at heavier electrode welding on structures and piping. MIG/MAG systems such as X3 FastMig are used in production welding of steel structures and machinery, and AC/DC TIG machines are chosen where aluminum has to be welded alongside stainless and carbon steel.

Ordering Kemppi equipment: what we need

Send the full model name and, if you have it, the Kemppi order code. State the mains supply at your site, single or three phase and the voltage, since several models exist in different supply versions. Tell us if you need the power source alone or a package with wire feeder, torch, earth cable, cooling unit and cart. For torches and wear parts, send the torch model and the wire diameter or electrode size. For an older machine, the serial number from the rating plate lets us check parts against the manufacturer documentation.
