The REHM SYNERGIC.ARC 504 WS is the top machine of REHM’s SYNERGIC.ARC heavy-duty MIG/MAG range. It is a three-phase, water-cooled power source with a separate wire feed case (the “WS” version), set up for structural steel fabrication, vehicle and machinery manufacture and other shops where the welder runs for hours at high current. REHM quotes 400 A at 100 % duty cycle, so the machine is intended to be used at deposition rates that would overheat a lighter source.

The synergic characteristics let the operator pick the material and wire diameter and then adjust a single value, while REHM’s SIRIUS interface and QUICK CHOICE buttons give fast access to stored tasks. What to confirm before ordering

Check that the shop has a 3 x 400 V supply with a 32 A fuse, and that the torch package is water-cooled with its cooling unit. Confirm the wire diameter and material range, whether the Profi or Advanced undercarriage is wanted for 50 l bottles, and whether the display covers are needed. If the work is lighter, the gas-cooled 304 or 404 may be a better fit than a 500 A class machine.

How the REHM SYNERGIC.ARC 504 WS works

In MIG/MAG welding, a wire electrode is fed continuously to the arc while a shielding gas protects the weld pool. The SYNERGIC.ARC 504 WS has a three-phase 400 V power source and a separate wire feed case with a four-roller drive. In synergic mode, the operator picks the material, the wire diameter and the gas, and the control sets the welding parameters to match. The operator then trims the result with one value. The setting range is 20 to 500 A, and REHM gives 400 A at 100 percent duty, so the machine can run through long shifts. The water-cooled torch removes the heat at high currents.

Installation, commissioning and maintenance notes

Connect the machine to a three-phase supply with the correct fuse, and make sure the mains cable size suits the load. Fill the cooling circuit as the manual says and check for leaks. Fit the wire spool and the drive rolls for the wire diameter, set the gas flow and test on scrap. Keep the cooling unit clean and the coolant at the right level. Check the drive rolls, the contact tip and the liner at regular intervals, and blow dust out of the power source.
